It wouldn't have to be $40M. If the Browns offered Mayfield $20M per year fully guaranteed for the next 10 years he'd rush in to sign that contract before the Browns came to their senses. He would have every intention of cashing their cheques each year but now he'd have zero motivation to earn them rather than very little motivation.That's at best just a guess and irrelevant.
Try and stay with the comments, though......The poster said Baker has zero interest in staying here so I asked if he'd sign for $40 mil per for 4 years. If the answer is yes, then wouldn't zero be a bit of an exaggeration?
If the Browns put a $160M 1 year extension with zero guarantees in front of Mayfield he wouldn't even consider it.
