...and yes, irony is hillarious.

General consensus (from what I can tell) is this team isn't winning because of lack of offensive output. TV, radio, papers, here, everywhere. It's certainly one thing many seemed to agree on even if their conclusions as to why differed greatly. Anyway, a stat the Kings broadcast showed the other night got me curious.

Pre-All Star Break GF/G - 2.66
Post-All Star Break GF/G- 2.58
Difference- .08

Pre-All Star Break GA/G - 2.28
Post All Star Break GA/G- 3.04
Difference- .76

Stats can be deceiving, so much factors into all those goals/games, but I find these numbers thought provoking to say the least with the team playing as badly as they have since late January. Obviously they need to score more than they give up to win, but it certainly surprised me to see that SJ scored about the same amount when they were playing better (not good or anything, just winning more), but are giving up considerably more since the break.

:confused2:

thaty's extremely misleading because he sharks troubles didnt start from the break, but from after the tampa OT loss. They were 4-3-1 after teh ASB after the tampa game. At that point they were 1-1-1 on the trip. Since that tampa game, the sharks have 36 regulation goals in 19 games or 1.89 GFA. That is the problem. So the LA announcers statistic is badly misleading

I don't really have a moment this morning to crunch the numbers in but I'm curious how it would look if you compared pre and post January 15th. IMO that's when the Sharks fell off their game. 25-11-5 before it, 12-16-5 since, and they have just looked discombobulated up and down the line up in all 3 zones since then (last night being a fantastic exception to that type of play). Of course the trouble with this kind of thing is you can pick a date range that shows pretty much anything you want, but I find it thought provoking nonetheless.
