Why is it so difficult to find out how serious players are injured? I've been trying to find out how serious the shoulder injury to Griffen Reinhart is & there isn't any info about it anywhere. All I've read from TSN is that he's day to day. According to other Isles fans who saw what happened it looked a lot more serious than day to day.

Is it too much to ask as fans to know how serious an injury is during the offseason? I don't understand the secrecy. He's playing in a charity tournament.

I'm not sure that he's even met with any team doctors yet. If I'm him, I make it sound as positive as possible because he's fighting for a roster slot very soon.

There's HIPAA as always, but I'm not sure how much that really applies to professional athletes.

Reinhart won't be playing in tonights Canada vs Russia game. Apparently he has a STINGER, his range & mobility are starting to come back.

I'm relieved it's not as serious as once thought.

I had a "stinger" once in my back after I got shoved into the boards awkwardly. They hurt and honestly my doctors thought it was much worse the first couple of days then it really was. From what I remember it was mostly painful and hard to move correctly but it cleared up completely in a few weeks with some rest. On a side note they gave me wonderful pain killers to make me high... I mean comfortable :whoo:

Stingers can be very bad, but it's incredibly rare. Only reason you can't play through them is because it tends to affect strength. Other than that it's just really uncomfortable.

Yea that was basically the biggest thing I think with mine. I could skate ok minus the pain but when I would try to stop or brace for a hit I'd expose myself and no one thought it was worth me playing through. Like I said after a few weeks I was fine though, not saying its the same injury but I figured it may give you some clarification on the situation.

Thanks for the info. I've never had one.

Is that his mindset or ours? I would think that he's more confident that most about his ability.

I don't want an 18 year old playing on the Isles. They've players like Bailey & Nino & it didn't go well.

Fortunately the top 6 is probably set going into camp.
