That the NBA on Christmas Day is a classic tradition. With how many times they mentioned that yesterday it's gotta be true.

Sorry NBA. But fOotball on thanksgiving is tradition....NBA on Christmas? Who gives a shit?

The first NBA games played on December 25 came in 1947, a year after the NBA's inception, when the New York Knicks beat the Providence Steamrollers at Madison Square Garden 89–75.

Since then, the NBA has played games every year on Christmas Day, except in 1998, when a lockout canceled half the 1998–99 season, making the NBA the only league to regularly schedule games on December 25

I guess. A.) There is usually so much going on Christmas day we don't get to sit around the tv and watch the nba.

that leads to B.) NBA only 30 games into a season isn't nearly as "HAVE TO WATCH" as NFL on Thanksgiving.

Just saying, they promoted the "tradition" like crazy yesterday. I didn't catch an NBA game on TV on Christmas up until about 4 years ago. It's just not something as a family we get stoked about to have Christmas dinner and watch the NBA.

Thanksgiving on the other hand, football on TV is a necessity all day long.

Different strokes for different folks.

Some love football some love hoops. And some love both.

I'm pretty sure in some households it is vice versa. They may watch the nba on christmas every year but only watch the nfl on thanksgiving once in a blue

to me the NFL Turkey Day games have been so boring I can hardly watch them.

Lions and Cowboys gets so old. Still, with that I wouldn't change it.

But you clearly stated that the NBA was not a tradition on X-mas day......you were wrong.

Detroit Lions play every year on Thanksgiving. As far as "must watch".... more times than not, Detroit is mathematically eliminated before Thanksgiving.

fail troll thread has failed.

it doesn't help that the Lions have sucked for a decade. It use to be where the Lions would never lose on Thanksgiving.

Cowboys are always fun because I want them to lose every game, so I have some rooting interest.

The night is now capped off with a CFB game and a decent NFL matchup.

So do I, but even multi-millionaire bastards should not have to work on Christmas. A lot of these guys have little kids, ya know?:bullshit:

Believe it or not professional athletes are the most elite (and highly paid) service industries. Fans paying for tickets and merchandise are why they are paid so much. If fans want their teams to play on Christmas they kind of have to do it.

The Detroit Lions are NEVER a necessity. EVER. NEVER EVER.

Apparently you have never needed a win in the second half of the season with the Lions on your schedule, I assure you, in that scenario you are very glad they exist.
