You forget that the AP was involved in the BCS back then, not anymore.

The computers (1/3 BCS) have UF beyond reach and the coaches poll (1/3 BCS) won't sandbag a team... not the majority anyway.

That leaves the Harris Poll (the last 3rd of the BCS) to drop Florida low enough to miss out. It's the only poll that might risk it by sandbagging UF - but I doubt it.
