I think he gets it. This is something a Megatron or a Marshall or Jeffrey would have caught.

How tall is Crabtree?

He gives up 2 inches to Sherman and Sherman has a good wingspan on top of it. It was just a dumb throw that didn't have a chance.

I know I haven't seen the replay, but it really looked under thrown to me and I'm not sure if anyone catches that where it was. Maybe a top notch WR at least knocks it away from Sherman, but not sure that's a catch for anyone.

It was a poor pass, Sherman's beating his chest to a poorly thrown ball. Crabtree isn't a bad receiver, Kaep just isn't the greatest passer.

Alshon Jeffrey is 6 foot 6. And his hands are like a vice. Sherman could only get 1 hand on it. A guy like that with 2 hands going up strong and having a height advantage would catch it.

I guess not Crabtree though at 6 foot 1.

the throw should never happened...

1. Dont throw it to coverage when you had open WRs elsewhere with TOs to spare.
2. Kap cant hit fades
3. Crabtree isn't a guy for jumpballs... over the middle between the 20s, he's gold. Endzone? no.

I did see the video again and it might be possible for a taller, or maybe more talented receiver to either catch it or at least keep it from being tipped. It was thrown behind him for sure, but maybe a more athletic/taller receiver bends back enough to get over Sherman. Just shows how ill advised that pass really was.

Wow. Is that all?

So your saying besides that, Craperdick and Crabs are the next Montana/Rice?

That was such a bad pass, and a really poor decision on top of it. They were right where they wanted to be, and Kaepernick just blew it with that pass. When we have to resort to, "yeah, we'll Megatron probably could've caught it" the mere exercise of this hypothetical situation reaffirms how shitty that pass was.

Crabtree should have gone out of bounds to stop the clock 2 plays earlier. Losing that timeout made it more urgent for them to take a shot.

They still had 2 timeouts, over 30 seconds on the clock, and they were inside SFs 40. I don't see the TO they used resulting in a do or die play for Kaepernick on the INT.

I don't agree with the people saying it was a poor pass. It was an inch or two away from the Niners playing in the Super Bowl. Sherman just made a great play.

If he catches the ball at it's highest point he'd have to have jumped 30 feet in the air, since that was it's highest point. :pound:

Sherman knocks it away regardless of who the WR is. The issue wasn't Crabtree's height, it was the fact the ball was underthrown. His momentum was carrying him OB and the ball never got to him. I guess you can speculate whether he or another WR could have anticipated the underthrow, stopped his momentum and made a play on the ball. But it wasn't the kind of pass that would lend itself to that sort of thing, imo. You don't throw a back shoulder, intentional underthown, jump ball sort of pass when Richard Sherman is the DB anyway. It was just a bad pass.

WR probably doesn't land in bounds making that catch if it was even possible. Nice try, exciting and just a great D play!

Yeah, he's an all pro with great ball skills. But the ball would have had to go through him to be completed. That ball needed to be over Sherman's head, out of his reach and it wasn't.
