The top 10 would look like this.
1. Florida State- Still the only undefeated team in CFB. Nobody has unseated last years champ. While many games have been closer than expected, FSU rallied to win in each of them. While in a relatively weak conference, they have bolstered their schedule with OOC games against Ok State and ND and still have to play Florida. This is the only team in the poll that plays only 1 game against non Power 5 conferences this year. Only 2 wins against top 25 teams.
2. TCU- 9-1 record with the only loss coming to a top 10 team, on the road by 3 points. 4 wins against top 25 teams and an OOC win against 7-3 Minnesota. Played 2 games against non P5 teams
3. Oregon- 9-1 record with only loss coming to 8-2 Arizona. 4 wins against top 25 teams including OOC win against 8-2 Michigan State. plays 2 games against non P5 teams.
4. Alabama- 9-1 record with only loss coming to an 8-2 Ole Miss. 3 wins against top 25 teams. Plays 3 games against non P5. with another top 25 win at Auburn and conf championship, will likely jump TCU and Oregon.
5. Baylor- 9-1 record with 2 wins against top 25 teams. loss to unranked WV and win against #2 TCU
6. Ohio State 9-1 record with worst loss in the top 10, Virginia Tech. Best win against #11 Mich State. 2 wins against top 25 teams. Play 3 non P5 teams.
7. Miss State 9-1 record with 2 wins against top 25 teams and loss to #4 Bama. Play 5 non P5 teams and conference schedule is weak with Vandy and KU on the schedule. Best win is against #14 Auburn.
8. UCLA 8-2 record with 2 wins against top 25 teams#13 and #15 2 losses to #17 and #4. OOC schedule includes 3 P5 teams and only 1 non P5 team
9. Ole Miss- 8-2 with big win over #3 Bama. 1-1 against top 25 teams. Play 5 non P5 teams Lost to unranked LSU and #14 Auburn
tie 10. Georgia 8-2 with 2 top 25 wins Wins against #14 Auburn and #23 Clemson Play 2 Non P5 teams. Losses to unranked Florida and South Carolina.
tie 10. Kansas State 7-2 with losses to #2 and #14 1 win against top 25, #12 Oklahoma. Play 2 non P5 teams.
12. Mich State-8-2 record with losses to # 4 and #6. No wins against top 25 teams Play 2 non P5 teams
When I did this my ranking changed many times. Too bad the committee does not look at it this way. I looked at wins and losses and to whom and did not look at style points or blowout wins and losses. I took a win as a win and nothing more or less, unless that win was against non P5 compeition.
