I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Santana.

Redskins leaving door open for Santana Moss to return

Seems to be a leader in the locker room. Was one of the first to call RG3 to the carpet. I think our top 4 is set, but in case of an injury you could do worse. I am really excited to see what Grant gives us this year, but must admit, thought he was going to give us a little more last year based on his good pre season play.

I would welcome him back too. Moss has always been one of my favorite players.

I would welcome him back . . . as a coach. The Redskins taking him back would be nothing different than the Wiz signing Paul Pierce.

He's had a great career, key term had!!!
There are significant reasons not to have kept him this long, chief among them his age, diminishing skills, and the new GM's pledge to develop our own young players. This last point cannot be overlooked, because the fact is he has no upside upon which to develop, will take up a roster spot, depriving a younger player of that opportunity to ultimately become a contributing member of the team. In as much as being a good locker room guy, that's the same justification used to hire Ryan Clark. Hire him as a consultant or some sort of assistant.

It hard to believe Santana's skills have diminished that much. Th fact that he's still out there kills me. I like 89. Never forget that hitch route he took to the house from Burnell vs. Jax that won the game in ot.

I'll never forget the two tds he scored against Dallas to win the game 14-13. That was one of the greatest plays the redskins made in the last five (or so) years. Griffins 75 yd td run is another one. Can anybody list others?

Anyway, I think it's time for 89 to coach, but I would hope GMSM could find SOMEBODY better: younger, faster, more potential, to keep on the team then an ancient veteran.

Sty hit the nail on the head as to why you don't keep him. If he's on the roster, that's one less young WR that we don't have to develop. Other than locker room presence, he brings nothing to this team. We need another presence that has a future here to step up and become a locker room leader.

So long Santana, I hope the skins honor you with a place in their ring of honor. You deserve it. Now go home and enjoy your family.

That would be a terriffic way to honor him........Ask the league for a one game exemption (opening day), first play to him, he walks off of the field to a standing ovation as his name plate is unveiled in the ring.

Honestly, I had hoped London Fletcher would have been asked to join Joe Barry's staff, considering how much of a gamer he was year in, and year out. Before LFB lost a step that 1.5 years or so, he was as Rock-solid a MLB as th skins have ever had in the 30+ years that I've had the "pleasure" of watching them.

Yes welcome, always glad to see a new poster.

As for Santana I loved him too but his time was up 2 years ago. I love Grant's potential and you just know they will acquire another young WR via the draft or FA. Unless they have a huge rash of injuries it makes no sense and I can't see it happening. There are better, younger, cheaper, options

Thank you, everybody! Long time redskins fan, newly reinstated on the SportsHoopla, (formerly shenanihanigans), and on my bestest behavior. Already been forewarned by Hammer Down, and I'm not interested in flaming anybody anymore.

skinsdad:

Can you post this for me? I can't post yet:

Jonathan Martin, OT, let go by niners. Martin was the subject of bullying by Incognito in Miami. I don't know if he's any good, but he'll probably be cheap, and WAS a starter.... Does he play on the right side?

Jonathan Martin waived by San Francisco 49ers - ESPN
