I want to see 1 or 2 runs from Cousins

To see his awareness of where defenders are while running and to see his athleticism. His instincts to protect himself while maximizing yards. He had one particular play running to his left vs Atlanta, that he ended up throwing and it was almost a pick. He had some space to in front of him to run.

Just keep the defenses a little more honest.

Not sure about that. I would much rather see the defense worried about getting beat through the air since it actually opens up the running game for our running back. Teams all year dared us to beat them through the air and concentrate on stopping our run game. We need to get teams to atleast respect our passing game so we can stop facing so many eight and even nine man fronts some times.

I never said running the read option. I want to see him show the ability when needed to make a defense pay for not respecting his potential to run. Once or twice. That is it.

OK guess i can see that. But if Cousins NEVER attempts a read option play, Im fine with that.

I would love to see Cousins run the read option as much as RGIII was asked to do so. This would give me a better comparative between the two. Right now we're seeing a different offense than what was designed for RGIII. It is altogether possible that RG would have performed better and developed a pocket presence if he also played in this scaled down version.

Stymie.... Dont you also have to ask the question, were we running so much read option because RG3 was struggling with the plays Kirk seems to be running with ease?? I know every one has torches ready to burn Dr FrakinShanahan and his Monster Kyle. But I seriously dont believe Kyle became an idiot or overly stubborn over night. I think he is smart enough to call what his current QB is able to run. You dont ask a LB to cover Dez Bryant all game and expect him to get the job done. You also dont ask a guy who is struggling to read defenses and with his mechanics to run a bunch of spread, multi receiver route plays. For 13 weeks RG3 struggled more often than not. So as i said, I dont want to see Kirk running read option stuff because simply put, he isnt that kind of QB so it would be pointless.

It is a fair question, we don't have a defined answer to that, however knowing RGIII is no longer to play, let's hope to answer the question.....can Cousins run the read option better. If the answer becomes yes..........................

your question shark is legit but can i ask this question

could a staff, with an notoriously impatient owner , take a shortcut to win games early and when he got injured couldnt get the rest of the offense going for Rg3( meaning the pocket passing game) and couldnt adjust to the adjustments the NFL made to the read option ?

i mean look at it could kyle really coach him up in the off season in the pocket passing game ? he got no off season snaps at all , and the only real option to have him ready was going with what they did last season

i bet in year 2 there would have been a lot of work in the pocket game and film study taken to the practice field and worked on

While I agree with what your saying.....I do have to point out that the Skins in fact do stupid things like this.....Lets See......we will leave Karrigan 1 on 1 with Leshown Mccoy flaring out of the backfield....that comes to mind.... Or lets see.....have our best pass rushers drop off into coverage, and have Inside backers blitz....or a safety that was 15 yards off the line at the snap of the ball.....

For those who are saying they don't want to see KC run the ball...I ask you to look at Nick Foles and then repeat that comment. The threat of the read option gives your RB a split second on a DE.

Let's get that, "can he slide" question out there too. Sorry but with our luck of non sliding qbs through the years, it has become one of those pet peeves of mine.

Call me old fashioned. But Im hoping we get to the point where we have a QB and O-line good enough where he doesnt need to run the QB very often. Thus the read option will just be a remember when we used to run this play kind of thing.

Does anyone one need to see Manning or Brady run? Not that I think Cousins is of that level but why does he need to run. Ludicrous.

To the person or persons that are conspiracy theorists and think the team ran a different offense for Kirk. Sorry you were wrong. If you don't believe me there are a number of ex players and current players that have come out and said "same offense with some different formations." Primarily the different formation was Cousins under center more.

Does anyone remember Robert's rookie preseason? He was not very good. Doc Walker said over and over they are not running the same thing in the preseason games as they are running in practice. In preseason they had Robert playing the roll of drop back QB. When they played New Orleans in the opener they showed the option and Griffin was much better. Kyle had come up with an offense that benefited a young option QB to be successful in his first season, very successful. It was so good other teams adopted it.

Robert didn't get hurt because of the offense. He got hurt on a scramble or unscheduled run. He got hurt because he turned back into the middle of the field right into an oncoming 300 lber. Shanahan didn't get him hurt, he got himself hurt.

Hopefully with a full off season he can get back to some better fundamentals. Whether he can become a true drop back QB remains to be seen. Only time will tell in that regard. I think the off season of rehabbing instead of working on becoming a better QB has hurt him.

Well said Sportster_72. I'm nowhere near close to giving up on Robert. He was sensational last season, showing incredible touch, accuracy and intelligence in his throws and overall play.

On topic, I don't know if Kirk has the wheels to run the read-option. I'd prefer the coaches game plan around his strengths, and not the strengths of the previous QB.
