I'll just buy the Lincoln we have now because it doesn't get any better than that anyway. Then, in late 2014, we can take delivery of a Model X. It's a perfect car for hauling the kids around.

I'm really kinda' proud of Musk and the Tesla guys. They took on a series of impossible challenges from the old guard and it looks like they're gonna make it just fine. Maybe now we can move on from the collar GM has put on America for so long.

^ Hmmm...I was wondering how these annoying and skeezy car dealerships keep flourishing. As usual, aggressive lobbying our douche gov't keeps these marketing nightmares in biz.

My wife's cousin's husband just bought himself a Tesla for his birthday after selling his Camaro. From the pictures, it looks like a sweet ride but I doubt he'll drive it often. He left the Camaro in the garage more days than not.

With a 10 year, unlimited miles battery warranty, I'd think he'd wanna' drive the shit out of it as a daily driver. I know I would.

I would too. I just think he only takes it out during perfect weather and may look to keep resale on it by having low mileage. He has a beater that he drives to work and that Camaro probably had less than 2k miles a year on it.

Tesla S killed it in safety ratings.

Very impressive. Safe, getting more reasonable in price, looks great...Hopefully in 5 years there will be viable electric options

Next version (after Model X) is supposed to target the 3 series market. $150 stock price may look cheap in a couple years...

A Model S will still run you at least 100k. I see a ton around the Northern Virginia area, but in the rest of the country, I wouldn't say 100k for a car is quite 'reasonable'

was just channel surfing...stopped on msnbc's Chris Hayes' paean to the S...said that Consumer Reports calls it, simply, the best car ever (and the safest car ever.) The $70k base price seems daunting, for sure, but as a pop-around-town-car?...seems a reasonable alternative to Rovers, Bims, Acuras, Lexii and Merceds in that range. Go for it Juice!

The S price range is targeting those who could afford a sedan like a BMW 7 or Mercedez S. I'm seeing them all over Bellevue, WA where there is a lot of Microsoft and technology money. It's not a car for the mass market yet. The battery pack for these cars costs up to 40K. It's going to be years before they can produce a entry level priced vehicle that gets the same miles or near on a charge simply because the battery technology is not there yet.

They were very smart going after the luxury sedan and SUV market first after getting their foot in the door with the sports car body that was originally designed by Lotus. The startup costs for a new car company are astronomical. I like Tesla and hope they continue to succeed. But these cars are not cheap and won't be affordable to the middle class for awhile.

Spendy wifey didn't wanna wait for it. So, she got a plain ol' Explorer instead. She shoulda' waited for that Model X. It seems like they enter the market with timid pricing. Then, it goes way up when people start lining up. Some Model S went for only 60k early on.

I want more CO2 expulsion. My Wagoneer gets nearly 16mpg now. So, it's replacement will have to get a lot worse mileage than that.
