I haven't been this depressed after a Bengals loss since...

Put the loss in perspective:

Baltimore loss to Cleve.

The Saints got beaten up by the Jets, who got blown out by the Bengals just a week ago.

While it sucked, it was just too much to overcome. Short week, beat the hell up, riding the high of Dalton's streak, which had to be snapped at some point (I mean, he's not Brady or Brees out there)...factor in bad games by the OL, WR, and DL/LB in the 1st half and most of the game...and you combine it all together...in the end, it was just too much.

Sucks, but I don't think it is as bad as everyone thought initially. Chances of all those same groups playing as poorly again in the same game is slim. Well, until the playoffs... :) LOL

:agree:

People like working themselves up. I still don't like us very much against B-More this week, but I think we'll get it rolling a little after the bye and finish strong.

Getting to the bye week is going to be essential.

If the Bengals can at least split heading into the bye week (it is week 12, right? We have Balt, then cleve then bye?) I think they will be in great position. However, those weeks are going to be a true test to guys being healthy and the depth of this team (as if it hasn't already been tested) as division games are just BRUTAL.

Split the B-More/Cleveland games.

Split the Indy/SD games

Win the last three vs. Minny, @Pitt, and vs. B-More.

11-5.

Yep. All I have been saying since the beginning. Don't get too high or you will be disappointed, and don't get too low because we will bounce back and you will look like a fool for spouting off too much garbage.

It is a 16 game season, and we will have highs and lows, but when all is said and done, I think we are right there in the playoff picture.

Just really starting to hurt with all these injuries starting to mount. We need to stay relatively healthy the rest of the season, no major injuries from here on out. We need to get a few guys back, and we need others to step up.

I can't believe I am going to say this...but when Maualuga returns that will help our defense a little to hopefully keep us producing on that side of the ball. Ever since Burfict took over calling plays and aligning the front 7, Maualuga has looked like a different player. He just was not capable of doing two things at once like Burfict. Too much thinking for Maualuga. Still not great in coverage, but he has cleaned some of that disaster up and turned into an "okay" coverage guy.

I was not going crazy after 0-1, I was not going crazy after 2-2, I was not going crazy after 6-2, so I am not going to go crazy after 6-3. I know I went nuts once, but it was basically in response to everyone else going crazy, and I took it a little overboard. Even keel folks. 1) It will help you live longer, and 2) it will prevent such drastic opinions from one week to the next.

That would be nice.

I think we have a decent chance against Baltimore in Baltimore this week. They have not been playing too well, we have almost a week and half to prepare and to get a few banged up guys healthier. It would really be nice if Maualuga could be 95% and ready to go by then.

We still have the offense, but we need to hope Gio and Jones are healthy enough to play extended snaps.

I don't think Rey is going to be ready until after the Bye-Week. They were talking about it being a 3-4 week injury. I'd rather have him rest up until then than risk an injury or him coming back and worrying about the knee and not being effective.

Still a lot of games left after the bye.

They had also mentioned that he might be ready for Baltimore. However, you know how Marvin is tryign to keep injuries hush hush to not tip off the opposing team. So you are probably right, but there was mention about him possibly being ready for Baltimore.

Rey probably had surgery last week. If he weren't hurt, they'd be talking more.

That loss sucked balls but that's the NFL. It's injury plagued and has parity between teams. Look at yesterday when NO lost to NYJ or Balt to Cleve. Losing Atkins sucks, but fortunately we have Thompson and Still as depth. Actually looks pretty smart taking those guys now. All in all, it's still the Bengals division to lose and even with the loss of Atkins they probably still have the best D-line in the game. The offense is playing better. The thing that worries me the most is the secondary.

Me too. Kirkpatrick has to start playing and living up to that first round status. No more excuses.

Agreed, but the only way that he's going to get any better is by being out there, unfortunately. With the time he's missed, he's not been able to have been eased into game situations. He's got a lot of growing to do in a short amount of time.

What the hell does Nick Saban teach these corners at Alabama? Swag and Milliner are both horrible.

Honestly, I feel better with Ghee on the field. They have to play him at some point to see what they have (if anything) and because they just don't have anybody else...but Dre seems like a total liability. He's got zero instincts v. the pass. You'll see him have pretty good position but he's not playing the ball at all. He just seems to have no field awareness or feel for the game.
