I know Mack's a great player and super athletic, but is he the type of LBer who would cover a TE downfield the whole game? Not a rhetorical question. I didn't watch enough of the Raiders last season to know. I figured they would want him with his hand in the dirt, rushing the passer.

Aldon Smith and Mack will terrorize the league if Smith is in gameshape
Very astute question.

Out of over 1000 Defensive snaps last season, Mack was thrown at only 6 times (4 catches for 39 yards (33 was yac). So, Going by last year's numbers, he won't be covering a TE or a RB in any pass situation and will instead be rushing the passer. (he had about 40 QB pressures, about 19 QB hits and about 4 QB sacks).

But, he was a Rookie, and great player or not, a Rookie LB isn't going to fare well trying to cover a Receiver. The only LB on our team is Hawk. Everyone else is subpar. But, great players quickly pick it up in their 2nd season, and Mack is a truly great player. With the signing of Aldon Smith, that frees up Mack to learn this part of the game, and I think he'll fare well. I'll certainly be looking at how he performs here.

And, you asked....the whole game? Certainly not. Mack will rush the passer on numerous blitzes, leaving Eifert on some yahoo with hopes that Dalton sees it (and Eifert sees it, too) and they connect.

Forgot to add that Justin Tuck is forgotten about when everyone saw the signing of Smith. Tuck is the starting LDE (maybe he can play some RDE, too), but Tuck is very good, not just above average, but below "elite" and better than "above average". You let Mack decide what he thinks he should best do and let him call the Defensive plays. I'd turn the Defense over to Mack. I think you can trust him now, if not...very soon. Don't think Ken Norton will do that in his first season as a D.C., though.

Mack is the best run-stopping 4-3 Linebacker in the NFL.....there is no close second. This is another reason why a Fullback is critical against the Raiders. But Hue knows this. I imagine our Fullback (or someone playing the role of Fullback) is back there on at least 40 plays. I'm estimating 2/3rd's of the Offensive plays, or about 44 of them.

Everyone thought June was nutty, and she was not that far off like most.

Also, I think King well under-estimated Eifert and his ability to run, catch and run create distance with his route running ability. Eifert's talent has always been up there with the elite TE's like Gronk and Graham, he just couldn't manage to stay healthy last year, otherwise you would have seen his break out season then, instead of this year.

I had three wants going into my fantasy football league draft: Jeremy Hill, Ben Roethlisberger with that scary talented offense he is in charge of, and Tyler Eifert (my sleeper pick as long as he could stay healthy).

I made a few questionable calls in my draft, but all in all, I was happy with the results.

Good day yesterday for my only two Bengals on my roster: Hill and Eifert, 2 TD's each.

Derek Carr is the best young qb in the league. He'll surpass 4000 yards this season. Amari Cooper is a freak. Crabtree is the perfect possession WR for them. Streater was injured all last year, but had 60 receptions the year before. They have a good O-line. Rivera, the TE, caught 58 passes last season in only 10 starts. They also have great offensive minded coaches now.

Good Call!

Wow! I really wasn't digging the Raiders hype. I don't think I bought into the whole idea that Del Rio knew what hew as doing and I thought they would experience issues with relocation, etc.

But, I'm still here (as J-Will would say if HE were still here).

I only bumped the thread as a reminder of how Kramer was the first person on the Carr bandwagon. Trying to balance out the Kaepernick thread. 90 percent of people were wrong on that one

Yep. You win some - You lose some.

K-Man calls them like he see's them.... And as long as it's not the Buckeyes, it normally makes sense.
