I am fucking pissed about the new Helmet Rule

For those of you who haven't heard yet, this season there is a new rule in effect...........

If you are on the field of play and your helmet gets knocked off, you have to sit out a play.

FUCKING BULLSHIT!

What happens when you're down 4 points with 30 seconds to go in the game and Rex Burkhead's helmet pops off after a run that gets us to 3rd down and 2 at the 6 yard line?

I potentially see some horrible shit coming from this rule....

Not really....there is no reason your helmet should ever pop off unless you get deliberately hit from underneath. Majority of the time helmets come off is those players who are too lazy to buckle that chin strap or put their helmet on nice and tuck. Usually thugs wear em loose.


The only potential problem I see is if a guy completely gets his clock cleaned and the helmet flys off and they penalize him. I think they're aiming this at those who don't wear their helmets properly.

Had the tightest helmet I could get and I always had that mother fuckin chinstrap buttoned up.

But sometimes you get jarred hard enough and the cocksucker just comes off. If this fucks my team, I'm going to fuck the NCAA right in it's vagina

I played football from midget throughout my senior year in high school. Now obviously nobody hit me hard enough in the lower leagues, but throughout high school my helmet got knocked off only once and I was going over the middle and got clocked by linebacker while trying to make a play. There are plenty of games though in the past 5 years in college football where the RB loses his helmet every other play, and that is just over the top.

What I am more concerned about than anything is the Offensive linemen who get hands to the face and helmets ripped off more often than everyone else on the field.

There really has been a surge in helmets coming off. Yes there are times when a good hard hit will do it, but back in the day helmets were fitted so snug that you had to pull the ear-holes outward to get the helmet off. I agree that loose fitting helmets and failure to snap the straps up is the cause for so many coming off. Old timers only had two snaps to buckle and helmets stayed on. Flagrant ripping off of the helmet by the opponent is another strategy to worry about.

Idk irule coaching your players to commit 15 yard penalties is probably higher risk than it is reward.

This is the first time I've heard of the new touchback rule. I'm more concerned about that rule than the new helmet rule.

Me too! I don't see any benefit to moving it out except to discourage risky kick returns even more. Now nobody will return a kick that is even a yard into the end zone......

I guess the NCAA didn't feel special teams plays were boring enough huh? Does this new rule effect punts as well? You try a coffin corner punt and if you miss, they get the ball at the 25???? That would suck.....I don't like this moving the ball out to the 25 yard line.......

Wow.....so their goal really is to get players to not return kickoffs to cut down on concussions??? The game is fast paced and violent.....the only way to get rid of concussions is to issue them all pink flags and outlaw tackling......and even then there's no guarantee accidental contact couldn't cause someone to suffer from a concussion......

I can't believe I didn't hear about this before this thread......This is such bullshit......So now having kickers that can kick it out of the end zone is not as big an advantage as another team that has a kicker that can only hit the 5 yard line.....

This totally de-values kickers even more....also moving the kickoff spot up means it's all but assured everybody will always start on the 25, and having your kick coverage team having to start 5 yards behind without being able to get a running start means an onside kick recovery odds will go to damn tough to almost impossible to recover.....

Way to just fuck over an entire great part of the game in making special teams meaningless except for the field goal kicker......
