Suh without question. Suh is constantly double-teamed. Atkins is not. However, as it pertains to your debate from one point of view, the Bengals had the better draft here given Suh was the obvious #2 pick, and we got Atkins in the 4th round.
I don't know how well Fairley has played in the NFL, nor what he has done. In any case, there aren't many players I'd trade a healthy Dunlap for.
Calvin Johnson is better than Green at least to this point. They were both the obvious picks at their slots.
Detroit is one of the few teams that has had better overall picks than the Bengals. Given that and their abundance of talent at some of the major positions, when looking at overall draft talent, they've done better than the Bengals have, especially when you consider the disparity between Stafford and Dalton.
I would take Atkins over Suh any day of the week and twice on Sunday. He plays with a higher motor, is double teamed frequently, gets pressure on the QB, good tackler and will probably get to 12 to 15 sacks this year as an interior lineman and make his 2nd probowl. He is going to be a lynchpin on that defense for many years to come.
Given the situation and the fact both guys are about as good, Green puts up pretty special numbers for being in a WCO style offense with a weaker armed less talented QB, so I would have to think Green gets my vote again here as well.
Fairely doesn't seem that great to me. If you could give me a 100% healthy Dunlap over a 5 year period now while he is still in his prime, I would take him over most DE in the entire NFL. His ability is amost unmatched when he actually is able to stay on the field.
So these are our 3 best players by far, I don't think anyone else would even enter into the conversation.
Dalton is a good little QB, but will probably be no better than 10-15 range of QB's in the league on a good year. That is not an issue about him, but they have to develop a run game to take some pressure off Dalton because they do not have to watch for the RB, because even with a handoff, opposing teams are confident they can stop our run game with 6 to 7 guys up front, and play the rest back, limiting Dalton's options terribly, especially on the 3rd downs where it is almost guaranteed to throw beyond 1 yard because our run game sucks.
