We once were proud and pursued each game with a passion!

We survived great turmoil amongst painful coaching changes!

We once stood shoulder to shoulder in an effort to thwart off challenges that came our way!

We were a household name nationwide and respected in almost every corner of the US!

In tough games we learned!

In easy games we showed appreciation!

Even in defeat we held our heads up high, knowing somehow we would overcome!

We respected the goal but knew the challenge of getting to the NCG!

Yes, we were;

We once were great; and now;

Well; let;s just say we need some work;.

.
.
.

By the way; The above is regarding our fan base, not the team!

You see, the team has a lot of growing to do and they know this. They see their faults and are working tiresly to correct them.

Will they obtain their goal?

Well; if they don't, it will not be because they gave up or they have surrendered...

Just my opinion;

BRS

PS: I am not saying fans should not have opinions or high expectations...
however to take a :ss: on us two weeks into the season... meh, there is still time... even though I have stated and restated that we have a tough assignment to live up to most eveyones expecations.

2-0.....end of story. sorry it wasn't 84-13 or 68-0 (if y'all remember those games) but i saw a lot of improvement in the offense from week 1 to week 2.

Well.. the whole team did come out and say national championship as a goal, kinda sets expectations high ;)

Couldnt be happier with the fight and growth we showed, and happy to be 2-0

It's not the goal that is the problem... it's the :ss: 2 weeks in... May be spot on... but holy cow... there are a lot of young guys out there learning on the run... I seen in some post that some of our posters were almost shocked that Bo was happy we won this past game rather than chewing ass in the press conference...

Look... that was a quality win against a team that may not lose but 1 more game this year (if their welfare deal does not cause them issues)... Hill is a very sharp coach and that team has some ability.

To each their own... it matters not too me anyway...

Been on both sides and know we have great fans... also know how hard it is to get to reach the goals set by this team...

Time will tell...

It is how the world is today. With the 24/7 sports sites, news, etc. Also with the Huskers it is like our "NFL Team!" You go to New York it all about the Yankees 24/7 or the Jets/Giants. Chicago it about the Cubs till April 1st (I'm a cub Fan) then it all about the Bears.

Look at the site Big Ten threads teams Nebraska has 2,464 threads secon is Iowa with 79. Us the fans live eat die football and the Huskers.

Just look at 1620 the zone 7 hours Monday - Friday local radio and 75 % of the show is Huskers/football related. Would be higher but Nick Bahe got to get some basketball talk in to stay sane.

Also, there is about 6 to 12 hours during the Huskers seasons with more sports talk on 1620 the zones that to do with the team.

GO B1G RED

We all care about our team.

I adjusted my sights is all. I did not give up on our team. I realized I had unrealistic expectations for such a young team.

I saw scores of talent that is being overridden by youthful mistakes. So with that I adjusted my prediction of 2 conference losses to 3 or 4. I also said it may be better than that depending on how long it takes for the necessary growth. That is not what I call giving up on the team.

An analogy might be a new parent so excited with their new child that they tell all their friends their child will be walking by six months. Well at four months they realize that was unrealistic and adjust. They haven't given up on their child or decided their child was a failure. Only that their expectations were unrealistic.

They are a young team, it's ok. They will grow.

Thanks. And that's not saying I will stop hoping for my original prediction or better. It would be great to have one division loss and one cross division loss putting us in the CCG. If not though I will not consider the season a loss.

And that is what Bo is saying to with the quote that people keep throwing out as NCG or bust.

What he said was they always set the goal as a championship. But in that same statement he also said "but if we don't win a championship that doesn't mean we can't have a good year."

Shoot for the stars but be happy with the moon.

Part of it is the media attention that we received in the offseason as well.............Americans kind of have this tendency to just believe whatever the media tells them :rolleyes:...........and all summer long all we heard about was how Nebraska probably holds the edge over Wisconsin in the Big 10, and as long as we can beat them twice we will have a great shot at playing for a National Title.

Now, all of that is still very possible, but if we stumble along the road a few times nobody should be too pissed.

The reality of it all is, we lost quite a bit of Senior leadership, and now we have to let some of these younger guys grow into some leadership roles. We did, afterall, return fewer starters than more than 90% of the FBS teams.....

Plain and simply, Nebraska fans are always going to expect championships.......last year I was pissed because we should have had that championship.........this year we simply need to be patient as a fanbase and understand there is a lot of growing to do.......and maybe, just maybe if we are patient, this team will gel quicker than we think and make a hell of a run this season.

I blame my way too high unrealistic expectations on having to watch Husker Football through the 90's. There is nothing that can change that

I think it is all part of a diabolical scheme to make Washington think NU is teh suk. They have been playing "poorly" on purpose, allowing these sub majors to hang. It will all be revealed when the Huskers curb stomp the pups reminiscent of the games of old..... watch and see.

I could be completely wrong... I haven't decided yet.

AMEN BRS.

We are one of the luckiest fan bases in the country to have a quality team

to follow year after year. Some get flashes of greatness some live a lifetime

waiting for that one great year, we have been taken to the Pinnacle twice in

the 70s and three times in the 90s. Ask a Kansas fan or Baylor or Iowa State

what one year like that would mean to them.

DAY BY DAY WE GET BETTER AND BETTER TIL WE CANT BE BEAT
