Even if you take 50 points off his on base and 100 points off his slugging, that is still a good slash line. He looks a LOT better this year.

Last year, in 97 games with the Giants, Herk had 4 homers and 24 RBI

This season, in 23 games with Texas, Herk has 6 homers and 23 RBI

He did try to fix his swing last year while with the Giants but the improvements were slight, in terms of production. He was the best hitting outfielder on the team last September but that is not saying much at all. My guess is that he got more comfortable in his new approach, the fight to make the team invigorated him and the hitting atmosphere in Texas hasn't hurt either.

It does feel like after guys have left the Giants recently they magically find their swing after losing it. Maybe the numbers don't back that up, but it feels that way.

This team just needed(s) a complete culture shift. Out with the old in with the new.

Hunter is a starter in the All Star Game this year and I couldn't be happier for him. Zero regret he's gone, he wouldn't be making us competitive, and his numbers here would not be that good.

He's also injured and I'm not sure he'll be ready for the game. Still, its nice to see him doing well. Too bad he couldn't have produced like that (or anything close to it) the past couple of years.
