With the sweep of the Cubs completed today. The Bucs are back to 23 - 24, 1 Gm under 500.

Another measuring stick series starts tomorrow, with the Cincinnati Reds coming to town.

The Pirates pitching has remained outstanding. Cutch, was Clutch again today & Pedro hit a bomb & had 4 steaks.

All of these are encouraging signs for this big series coming up.

I am hoping the Bucs take 2 of 3 vs the Reds?

If we can do that? We will be at 500 & inching are way up the ladder toward the top of the division & we will have put ourselves, squarely & firmly in the division race.

I am really getting charged up. Here's hoping Neal Huntington makes a move to get us an impact bat, soon & we can really take off.

One thing at a time, however.

Let's Go Bucs!

good luck in the series sirs

it's a huge series for us too

we're on a roll right now, only losing once in the past week

we need to keep it up to hold the division lead.

there probably won't be as many homers involved as we've had lately.

Good start to it! :thumb:

And Pedro looks to be getting hot again. That last cold streak was honestly not even that bad, either, it just decimated his stats. But two at bats today got his OPS back up over .700. I've said before I predict he'll be streaky, but if his hot streak are always like this, I think it'll be worth the frustration of his cold streaks.

Pedro crushed that one, too. Great catch, though, to rob him of a double.

On a second look, I think that was a trap. It looked on that last view, to me at least, that the ball hit the wall before it went into the glove.

Pity the shutout's gone.

Still, one out away from a pretty big win.

The bats heating up! who knew it was possible.

4 in a row, I'll gladly take a split these last 2 vs the reds.

Pedro could have easily had a 2 homerun game.

that was a trap.
pedro is looking so relaxed.
everyone is pitching him away(their mistake as he seems more vulnerable to heat inside) and he is learning to trust his swing and easily go with it.
he does generate a lot of power with minimal effort.

mcdonald a stud,
trade watson in for slaten or reyes from AAA.

skip correia's next start as bucs have an off day.
then swap lincoln and correia.

I don't think Lincoln is a starter anymore. Doing well in long relief, why change it? Maybe give him a spot start in an emergency, but we'll have Karstens back soon as well.

burnett is a stud. great to have a reliable ace toe the slab and get after it and the guys get behind. other than that one off nite, he is such a rock so far.
hanny made it interesting. why does he never come inside on anybody. it seems like the batters are able to dig in with no fear, considering he was hitting 98 tonite. remember the goose and the fear he struck into batters. they were quaking in the box and he had that nasty slider to go along with the heat, but he came inside and tied people up or freaked them out.
we scored 7 runs and won 2.
they scored 10 runs and won 1.
grilli is my new man crush. he had an off nite though with only 2 strikeouts and had his streak of 7 straight snapped.
what was jordy's hit like. something to remember i hope.
6-3 homestand and they've played tough.

That was a huge outing by Burnett and a even bigger series win for the Pirates. We need to ride this.

So great to get a win over Cueto. This staff is pitching so well, hopefully we can figure out some way to get more offense.

Hague appears to be helping. Maybe Mercer will help too. I didn't see the whole game but from what I did see it appears that Mercer may field adequately well.

the fielding is great news.
even if he is the same as barmes, would much rather having the young guy with an unknown ceiling than a 30+ with a known and limited ceiling.

i like the willingness to dig in to the minors already.
giving harrison and hague a shot with watson and hughes out of FLA.
then bringing up lincoln and slaten, as well as gorkys and mercer.
dumping nate and switching gears on barmes.

all good signs of willingness to admit mistake and take a bit of risk.
we will see what trade deadline brings.
