I'm embarrassed to say that I've only done it a couple of times in my life because I just didn't think it was important but suspect I was very wrong about that because I noticed a marked improvement in my accuracy during a range session yesterday after I had them all regripped with some tacky grips.

How often do you guys have new grips put on and do you do it yourself? I did it myself years ago but the PGA Superstore was only charging a few bucks for the installation so I had them do it.

Usually every other year. I take mine to Golf USA to get them regripped.

I have never washed them before, did it a week ago and they're like brand new.

I do it myself every year.

I bought that grip cleaner , geko. It gets them a little tackier than before. Not sure about it long term, but it's cheaper than new grips

I have several sets and don't get around to each for maybe 2-3 years. now that all depends on the grip too.
I have golf prides( super tacky grips ) for my wedges. Winn's are my choice. Lamkin's are not tacky enough for me. Dri Tac's from Winn.
Now if ya can, have the factory grips replaced that might be a good option too.

FYI, don't undersize or oversize the grips. It will effect your game.

Story. I was in South Carolina one time and K.J, Choi came in to get his clubs regripped. When he picked them up he went to the range. Little did he know the guy substituted an 80z grip with a 10 oz grip. Iy was a practical joke. Choi came in and immediately told the guy, this club is off.
There's something wrong with my club, he had picked the joke grip out of all his clubs, that's how in tune these guys are. Grips make a difference.

A side note, make sure your grooves are cut or cleaned. Sharp grooves help the rotation..
Dirt causes many problems with flight and swing. The fraction if an inch turn because of dirt on your club head could be the difference between a shank and a fairway hit

I keep extra grips and change them often. It's a very simple task and it pays great dividends to have fresh tacky grips.
