I don't even watch college basketball really outside of the tournament, but the names I recognized were:
Ray Allen
Mark Blount
Evan Eschmeyer
Cedric Henderson
Allen Iverson
Marc Jackson
Trajan Langdon
Randy Livingston
Stephon Marbury
Jeff McInnis
Roshown McLeod
Scot Pollard
Lorenzen Wright
Raef Lafrenz
Keith Van Horn
Brevin Knight
Sam Jacobsen
Erick Dampier
Antonio McDyess
Jahidi White
About 10
Marbury was so nasty in HS. That crossover was pretty bad ass
And that was when most guys still dribbled from on top of the ball, you know like you are supposed to.
After reading a lot of your posts...I'm convinced that you're posting from the 1950's. lol
And that's not a slam either. I agree with a lot of what you say.
Lol, it’s funny how it just happens too. I’m 55 and I’ve seen some great things in my life. Hopefully I got a lot more to see but I know I’ve seen greatness and I don’t like seeing things cheapened. These guys are so athletic they don’t need shortcuts but that’s the world we live in now days.

I recognize about half the names there, but I also watched college basketball religiously during that era.
I even played against one: Joey Beard from South Lakes High School. He went to Duke and pretty much never played once there. Think he eventually transferred somewhere.
Not sure what OP’s point was, but once the 1 year rule is rescinded, if more than the absolute cream of the crop (top 4 or 5) try to make the jump to the league out of high school, we are going to see a lot of these never was guys with G league careers and no college education.
It will self-correct within a few years. Kids will get better advice and go to college where needed. The last 2 years kids could jump directly to the NBA, you had some that really should not have skipped college (Josh Smith, JR Smith, CJ Miles, Ricky Sanchez, Andray Blatche, Amir Johnson, even Lou Williams, etc).
I mean...
None of those guys were superstars. Most were successful NBA players.
But all but Ricky Sanchez made a lot of money in the NBA.
If the purpose of college is to find a good job, those guys all made more money than most normal people will in a lifetime.
What I think might happen, at least initially, is that you might get 15 high school players declare, and like 5 of those will be like Ricky Sanchez where they just aren’t NBA players. Because it is too hard to evaluate all but the super elite off high school tape.
Sure, but most of those kids were not close to ready and bounced around a while before settling in.
No high school kid is ready. Even guys like Kobe and KG took time to work their way into prominent roles.
Still, it is only a mistake to enter the league early if the player washes out early.
