- Ans. Bagby was born in Barnett, Georgia in 1889. He debuted w/CIN in 1912 & retired after his 1923 year w/PIT. In his 7 years with the Indians, his average WAR was 4.3 w/a high of 9.0.

A. JACK COOMBS [SABR Bio]

- Ans. Born in Le Grande, Iowa, Coombs learned to switch-hit at an early age. In 1910, throwing for Connie Mack’s WS champ Philadelphia A’s, he held opponents scoreless 13 times.

- #1 Coombs was the winning pitcher in 3 of the 4 wins when PHA defeated CHC 4-1 in the 1910 WS. The Cubs would go on to lose that & their next 6 Fall Classics, not winning 1 until the 21st century.

was first thinking Lefty grove.... but then the hint was that he won a championship with an NL team...

thats who i wanted to guess but he was an answer already in one of these...

I just looked at Dizzys stats,he never played in the American league.....I thiught his 2nd team he played for was Cleveland,but just seen his 2nd team he played for was the Cubs.....

One of the hints was played in a league championship series so it will be a post 1968 pitcher

Well now,thats a little better......my guess would be Orel Hershiser,who I thought owns/had owned the screless inning streak,but I dont remember him being in the A.L......

But I will go Orel anyways.

There is a guy in the HOF that goes by "Homerun"......he was really not a huge homerun guy,but I believe he lead the A.L. a few times.......

My answer is Frank "Homerun" Baker......

I also think Ty Cobb lead the Majoers with 9 one season,but do not remember him 25 in a season......
