3 TIMES NOW??????? 3??????

What is going on with Kovy and the Kings that they need to have talks on 3 seperate occasions and still have Kovy show no interest in becomming a King?

He's like a bad date that won't put out, has no interest in you, but will still let you pay for dinner each time you go out.

What more can be said between Kovy and the Kings that they haven't already said or put out on the table?

I can't wait to hear he's going to the KHL and be done with the drama already.

It depends on which part of LA Kovy was sightseeing. Like every other big city in the world, there are good parts & bad ones.

You never know the driver could have gotten lost or taken a detour from LAX.

Sounds like Lebron.

He is gone, he is back, he is gone, he is back. Who knows what Kovy wants. I think he wants attention. He he makes up his mind then the media will go to who's next. As long as he doesn't sign he is the story in every (ok many) NHL city. I hope he makes up his mind before noon Friday. I will be on a cruise with no internet or cell phone.

Lou has basically said he has some potential moves in mind, unfortunately they are all dependent on Kovy staying or leaving. I just want him to make a decision so the Devils could make a move (like trading for Kabarle if Kovy leaves).

I think he wants a big contract. The issue with him seems pretty straightforward and has been the same for a year now.

He wants a big contract in the $10 million/year neighborhood.

Teams know he isn't worth that and don't want to mortgage their future just for him.

Impasse.

I'm sick of this too, but remember this is a pretty big deal for him. This is arguably the biggest name to hit the UFA market since the lockout, so he's going to get paid, and he's going to go somewhere he wants to go. He wants security, he wants attention, and he probably wants to win. This is a once in a lifetime decision, so I can't blame him for taking his time.

The latest rumor in Kings fan circles is really a funny one. They think that Dean is flying to Denver to talk to the owner to get the final ok on the deal. Optimism or Crazy?
Why is he flying? Because men talk face to face when spending this much money.
Why do the fans believe he is flying? Because some LA radio guy sent a tweet.

Now I guess this could be true, but do they not have fax machines, or phones or go to meeting in Denver? Stop the Insanity and sign somewhere Kovy

I see the common sentiment here is "it's all Kovalchuk's fault".
How? The guy is trying to get the deal he deserves and Lombardi lowballs him not once, not twice, but 3 times! Kings basically offer Ilya $6.5 M a year.
Are Gomez and Drury $1.5 M better players than Kovalchuk? Is Lecavalier $3.5 M better?! I would take Ilya over any of these three in a heartbeat. Freaking Bettman makes more than $7 M!!

It's Lombardi who wastes everybody's time, not Kovalchuk. If you are worried so much about future cap problems - go after Gagne or re-sign Frolov. Don't make a circus offering 2-tier money to the only superstar UFA available this year.

I wish Kovalchuk signed with NJ. He likes it there, they like him and they offer him a reasonable contract (from what I've heard)

he's in the wrong league for that.. any attention he's gunna get from NHL fans is hatred for being a prima-dona.. and its not like the NHL gets covered to the point the rest of the country knows about it.. i haven't seen the NHL on sportscenter since kane scored in game 6.. you'd think they'd talk about 20 guys making signing almost 300 million worth of contracts in 6 hours (july 1).. but i guess thats not big news, gotta cover the week long saga for 3 guys to sign 300 million in contracts..

I don't have an issue with Kovy trying to maximize his return (this is the time to try to hit the jackpot), but Lombardi knows that he will need some cap space in order to sign his young players in order to ice a contender.

Stating the obvious here, but Sather was/continues to be a dummy when he signed Gomez and Drury to that ridiculous amount of money.

The best part is that is gives us plenty to chew on during the off-season. :)
