An IndyCar road course race in May is being considered to serve as a start-your-engines event to the Indianapolis 500.

That makes me go hmmm.... I'm always for more racing. But would many people show up? If you had to choose one race to go, I wouldn't imagine many would choose a road race in the weeks prior to the 500. I would prefer they try a race there later in the year. Especially at this time of the year, with a 4 week break before Sonoma and a 5 week break before Houston. I personally hate the long layoffs between races.

I think that at least one of the two long breaks this season was a result of an anticipated event that fell through (though I can't recall ATM just what/where it was supposed to be), so hopefully that won't happen again next year.

Graham Rahal & Ryan Briscoe did some test runs on the IMS road course yesterday. Rahal 'liked' the track, but noted issue w/grip & lack of passing zones.

Word from league/track officals makes it clear that both sides really want this to happen, possibly as soon as next year.

We'll see where this goes.

I suppose that I'll 'get used to this' but, personally, I'd much prefer to see it happening later in the year - like maybe making it the season finale.
