Hi, I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite Computer with Windows 7 after my old HP died.

Anyways I keep trying to get on Microsoft Word and I can't seem to get on because an error message comes up saying "this action is only vaild for products that are currently installed.
Google said it's Error 1605 but idk how to fix it cause System Restore won't even work.

I have Norton and I haven't even looked at pron on here yet. This is pissing me off because I had a shitload of updates to install the other day and now that seemed to fuck this thing up.

Anybody know how to fix it?

Are you clicking the actual program link or trying to open Microsoft Word via an associated file?

Trying both but they aren't working. I just tried to open yahoo messenger which I installed yesterday as well. Everything else that I installed 2 days ago when I bought the computer works fine..
I can't even uninstall these programs either.

now when I try to uninstall anything it is saying the program might have been corrupted during install and asks me if I would like to remove it from the programs and features list. I click yes and it doesn't remove it from the list. This is all fucked up goddamit!

Damn, that sucks. I have the exact same laptop - mine of course works fine LOL.

I don't know what to tell ya, sorry.

I think there is a restore type thing or a HDD restore(I'm guessing that is a hard drive restore)
There is also a way to restore it to setup defaults or something during the startup menu

The vast majority of the time there is a DVD Recovery Media Creator in the program list (In the Toshiba folder under All Programs). Get 4-6 blank DVD+r's, run the program and create the discs. Then use them.

is there a factory restore partition on the HD that you can access via selective boot ?

It's probably this. That is the way my Satellite was. You would have to do something like press F7 during bootup and it would start the system restore. You can create bootup disks, but that really only helps if your entire HD gets fried. The partition is usually pretty well walled off from your usual operating system.

with it being new just call tech support and have them walk you thru the factory restore,,,you will lose all updates and personal info on the machine but the problem will be gone
