I can't see them not turning to Tazawa. He helped them all season. The HR ball is a problem, though. He needs to trust his fastball a bit more.

Dempster will be in the bullpen during the playoffs. He could be effective in 1 or 2 inning spurts if he can avoid the walks. We could see him in the 7th inning if a righty is needed, or maybe 6th and 7th.

Sox still only have a 1 1/2 game lead on the A's for home field. Sox play 5 on the road against Colorado (2) and Baltimore (3). A's play 6 on the road against the Angels (3) and Mariners (3).

We need home field.

tazawa will go out if we're up by 3 or 4 runs. other than that, we have solid starters who may be involved in the pen. dempster or peavy.

not sure if we need home field but that would be nice. if we take 2 from colorado, i'm confident that 1 of 3 from the orioles would suffice.

I wouldn't go that far.

Yaz only had 3 great years (67, 68, 70). But those years, he was unquestionably one of the best players in the game (he led the AL in WAR those three years). His career 96 WAR ranks 23rd all-time among position players.

So, I noticed that the Braves celebrated last night at Wrigley. And, nobody seemed to have a reason to cry about it.

Hmm.......

I see the Sox going with a 4 man rotation, with Peavy included. Have you heard otherwise?

Who would you rather have on the hill in the 8th inning with a one run lead: Tazawa or Dempster? I am sticking with Taz.

Does this mean that if the Sox win the World Series while I am watching the game at your house, I can jump in your pool and piss in it?

My point is that you show respect for your host.

And, it that were the norm and tradition, then, there would be an issue.

My issue is, there is a precident, and, too bad if you think you are somehow better and different.

Does anyone else see this as a possible bad omen? I sadly think I do.

With a fifth-inning strikeout of Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich, Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg became the third-fastest — in terms of innings pitched — to reach 500 career strikeouts, tweets James Wagner of the Washington Post. The two to do it faster: former Cubs teammates Kerry Wood and Mark Prior

That's a great achievement but the company on that list are not guys you want your career to be associated with

Which team is more done?

a. The Steelers
b. The Giants
c. The Redskins

Please be gentle.

A. It's not looking good. Five turnovers with 4 of them resulting in points? And did I hear a stat correctly that the Steelers have not forced one turnover at all this season? Not a single one? Gonna be a long season if this crap continues.

If the Redskins can go back to the offense they ran last season, there's still hope.

The Steelers have had a tough schedule so far, I still think they'll finish 8-8

The G-MEN are DONE, it's like they switched places with the Jets. Poor Tom Coughlin will probably get fired too

I want to say the Giants but they always find a way to start out crappy and yet come back. The Steelers look awful right now.

So my pick in the Steelers with the Giants a very close 2nd
