MLB Tonight did a segment on the Giants and their good start and highlighted Chapman and Ramos, lots of good credit for him as a possible complete hitter, only 25, maybe we finally get someone to stick out there.

As we know Bonds was the last LF to start opening day more than once up to now.

Here's the list...some immortals on there:

So we're due!

Some of those guys I had hoped would fix the problem (Lewis, Parker) but obviously did not. I forgot that Huff and Pence both played a little left field as some point in their Giants' careers.

Who is Alex Slater?

Had Ramos beat out Encarnacion for LF? Possible we see an opening day switch in '26. Early days
Assuming nothing really weird happens in the next year, Ramos should be pencilled in as the starting LFer. Even if Jerry is still with us, I would think he would be contending for the DH spot. His defense is not as bad as his rep will say, but Ramos’ D is definitely better.

And I thought I was the only one that watched that show back in the 90s. There was some line from that show that randomly came up in my memory a couple of weeks ago and I've already forgotten it.
It lasted for 3 seasons, so it wasn’t some unknown flop.

Still, wasn't it canceled due to low viewership? I don't find very many people of my age who remember that show at all.
73 episodes is 73 episodes. Not quite syndication-level (iirc, a show needed 100 eps to go into syndication), but it had a nice run. And it launched Corrin Nemic’s career.

Giants rumored to be in talks with Ramos about an extension.

Good grief, that Vlad Jr extension is a phuking nightmare.

I would think Ramos’ extension would look more similar to Jackson Merrill’s than Vlad’s but who knows.

Oh, I agree. Ramos hasn't done half of what Vlad Jr has done.

That said, Vlad is a below average 1B, in his twenties. They will be paying $35M/yr for a DH for a long time.

The Jays didnt have any leverage. The Giants still own Ramos for 5 years. That is a lot of leverage.

Oh, for sure. I wasn't trying to compare them. Completely different scenarios.

Was just remarking that the Vlad contract seems like an awful idea.
Gotcha. I get it now, separate thoughts.
