It is not a bad thing to show her how much she means to you at all. But you should do that every day!!!!

I make sure to show Brasky's mom how much she means to me all the time. I don't need a special day for that. It is just whenever she calls me. Which is A LOT!!!!!

Valentine's Day only gets stupid when people make TOO much out of it.. which happens a lot, but doesn't have to ruin the day for the rest of us intelligent Patricians

When I was with the "beautiful mother of my kids" (divorce is not final yet) I would buy her random stuff all the time. I got her at least 1 rose on the 18th of every month because we started dating on the 18th and got married on the 18th (my bday is on the 18th and I still did it). And we started dating in 1994, so 17 years worth. Anytime I was out buying a bday card or any other kind of card I would get her a loving card as well. I would also tell her how much she meant to me all the time and things for her around the house. You don't have to go "all out" 365 days a year, but to go all out 1 day a year in basically a forced situation is fake and not meaningful in my opinion. My ex and I never did anything special for valentines day.

I think Valentine's Day is a damn silly holiday all around to be honest.

Got my girl a gift anyways, because I would be a real prick not to since society has decided that on this day it must be done.

But, much like Jed, I don't see why everyone should decide to show their feelings on the same day. It's kinda weird and awkward when you think about it. It's almost like they made the holiday so that people wouldn't have to spend money at other times of the year........they could just save up and buy roses like everyone does on that one single day, and then they'd be good to go for another year.

Agree completely. It's all fake.

One that always annoyed me is fathers day because I am really close with my dad and my sister isn't at all, but she goes all out on fathers day and buys him all this shit and acts like she adores him so much and that's supposed to make up for the fact that she literally never calls him or spends time with him. Meanwhile I do everything I can for my dad unconditionally the other 364 days of the year, but she gets to be guilt free since she was good to him on fathers day.
