I'm no fan of 210, but I think this is a pretty good signing by the Leafs - He does eat big minutes, the cap is going up, and the upcoming UFA market is pretty thin regarding defensemen. I mean the Leafs had little choice (and you could argue Dion left some money on the table).
i just dont think hes any good lol
How much does PK Subban ask for now? 8 million per season?

Just pushing the market up. Again.
I'd happily take Karlsson or Pietrangelo at $6.5M over Dion at $7M.

I was actually discussing what he would get on the open market if he hit it in the off season and if the Flyers should take a stab at him. The conclusion was he'd be looking at $8m a year for 7 years and for that tag with the cap going up that there would be no shortage of teams the Flyers included in the pack chasing him. I agree he isn't the best D-man in the league but he does a lot of things pretty well, eats big minutes against tough competition and is still relatively young. PK is going to get a huge deal now and even though he's the better player I think teams may be a bit more hesitant to give him the term Dion just got because of his attitude.
im shocked hes only 28 I though he was 31 going on 57 with a mind of a Cro-Magnon man
7M for a guy who coughed up the puck in a game last year against the Islanders after Matt Carkner skated towards him ready to drop the gloves. It led to a goal. Dion isn't anywhere near a 7M defenseman.
not sure if true ... but heard on the radio that James Mirtle saying 210 didnt get a no-move in the new contract
interesting
I guess that could have contributed to the $ amount.
