Always thought McCreary was a pretty good ref so congrats on making the HHOF.

Hall of Fame inductees highlight international play as great memories - Cross Checks Blog - ESPN

Former official Bill McCreary, who is also part of this year’s HHOF induction class, worked that game in Nagano and vividly remembers Hasek coming up to him before the shootout began.

"Dominik skated out of the crease and asked me if Wayne Gretzky was shooting," McCreary said Friday, proudly holding his HHOF induction ring. "That kind of surprised me. But once I told him I didn’t know who was shooting, he went back into his net and, as he always did, he stopped everybody."

McCreary is one of he worst "old school" refs ever. He never called a penalty against the team that was being dominated. He was a "game manager" of the worst order.

I'd rather you, dash, were in the hall of fame. In fact I'd rather DerringerEagle (who might actually be Bill McCreary) was in the Hall rather than McCreary. I think I just blew my own mind there.

The Burns induction just seems like a slap in the face at this point. The NHL needed to get him in sooner and just failed.

lol - Bill McCreary is no Dean Morton, I'll give you that. As for Pat Burns, very happy that he finally made it, as Matty said above, it should have happened while he was still with us, but certain people who decide who get into the HHOF hold grudges longer than they should.
