Arkansas St isnt that bad of a gig. If a coach wanted to return to his home state and be a HC I could understand that. Some people believe in more than $$$ in their face and 750k is plenty to live on a year. He could win the Sun Belt and get a big time gig in a few years if he wanted. It is a little odd that it was that big of a pay cut but the pressure is off him there compared to a BCS school. It is a little odd though still

nah, I just don't buy it. Their DC jumped ship, and we're talking about one of the hottest HC candidates out there for the last year. He turned down 3 mill to go to Vandy, UNC, and Maryland - and now he's taking a 750K job at Arky State?

The rats are jumping off the ship.......something is going down at Auburn we don't know about yet.

Interesting development on why Malzahn didn't take the Vandy job:

Vandy asked Malzahn to sign something indicating that if
anything came of the Cam Newton situation (i.e., any wrongdoing was
found to have occurred from Auburn's end) that Gus was pledging that
he knew nothing about it. Gus apparently wouldn't sign it.

In other words, Vandy was looking for a legally-based assurance that
Gus wasn't involved in and had no knowledge of anything against the
rules involving Cam Newton's time at Auburn. Gus couldn't give them
that assurance.

That isn't a good sign.

Maybe not the best program in the country, but he has a chance to win at a smaller school and gain invaluable head coaching experience. Until something substantive comes out all the speculation is ridiculous.

Back in your closet Eagles or Tigers or whatever the hell they call themselves.

They will be a perennial 3rd -5th place finisher in the SEC West from here on out. Cam was a once in a $20k kinda a deal.
