Apparently the Bengals thought he looked good in warmups and was going to play. In the post game interviews he apparently interrupted Lapham's interview with Marvin, upset about Lapham's supposed comment that he let the team down.

From my point of view, it was nice to finally have a game with no presnap penalties or drops from the tight end position. I'd like to see the Bengals let him go to fuck someone else's offense up next year.

Gresham is out and our run game is better than ever..... He's not exactly putting up monster numbers in the passing game either. Just go with Brock and Hewit and pick up a new tight end in the offseason.

I guess Gresham accused Lapham of saying that he (Gresham) quit on the team by taking himself out of the game

Jerome Louis Simpson is a former American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent,
Gresham's fate will be the same.
If he's lucky someone will take a chance on him in the CFL like they did Chad Johnson

Somewhat of a dick move by Lapham..... He's normally a jock sniffer on air -- Probably just because he's a former player and doesn't want to be critical. But for whatever reason he felt the liberty to take a shot at an unpopular player when there's no way to know what sort of pain Gresham was experiencing.

But Gresh is a baby..... And he's a bonehead on the field.

I don't know for sure if he said that, that's just what I was reading on twitter after the game and the incident

I heard what Lap said. He said that Gresham looked good in warm-ups, he was shocked that he wasn't playing and that if he wanted to let his team down by taking himself out of a must-win, division game on the road, that was his prerogative. He never said he quit.

It wasn't a cheap shot, it was Lap being honest. Gresham is a pussy and if I were him I'd be more concerned with why people aren't willing to give you the benefit of the doubt rather than the fact that they don't. I guess he doesn't realize that if he's not a flat out bust, he's the closest thing to it.

here's the tight ends that were drafted in the first round in the last decade.
There's at least 8 of them that seem better than Gresham, 9 if you count Olsen.

Gresham has sadly disappointed anyone who thought he could make a big difference here.

I didn't hear the original comment, so take that for what it's worth..... I was just shocked that Lap would say something like that about a player given that he normally doesn't. You make a good point that it's interesting that nobody will give him the benefit of the doubt. Probably more to it than just this incident.

Aside from Vernon Davis, Heath Miller, and Dallas Clark back in the day, that's not a very impressive list at all.

I don't like Gresham.

I would rather just go with the injury prone Eifert, Resign Alex Smith, and draft another TE, while keeping Hewitt as a swing man at TE/FB.
