That is disappointing especially with how well the team as a whole is playing.

I think the only catchers on the 40 man roster are Zunino, Sucre, Montero, and Blanco. So I guess they will need to add somebody.

Sucre can come back anytime since he's still only on the 15 day DL. My guess is the M's will transfer him to the 60-Day DL to free up a 40-man spot unless a trade is made.

Yeah, makes sense to bring up Sucre as long as his hand is okay.

He and Blanco are both fine defensively, and it's not like Zunino was an offensive weapon.

I'm really sad to hear this about Zunino, though.

Humberto Quintero is the replacement, dfa'd by the Phillies a few days ago. I guess Sucre is still hurt.

Yea but this really blows. He has been great behind the plate and just starting to hit too. Between Wedge, Harvin and Zunino What did we do to piss of the sports gods this week. I guess things were running to well for Seattle.

His WAR has been pretty much exactly what Zunino put up in his limited time.

Things could be worse.

Most important thing is for Zunino to get well and come back and finish the season strong.

If it's a 6 week injury, he would come back with maybe 20 games left in the season. I almost wonder if they should shut him down if that's the case. Obviously you see how the rehab goes but if its between risking injury in 20 probably meaningless games and just letting him rehab longer. I'd probably take the latter.

If the wrist is fully healed after 6 weeks, I don't see why they'd shut him down. Especially when there is literally no depth at the position. He's a kid we're looking at as a defensive cornerstone, and being out until next March wouldn't do him or the team a whole lot of good. Just IMO.
