Harbaugh won at Stanford because he had Luck. Without that level of QB then his record there is not near as good.

That's not exactly true. The 2 years after Luck, Stanford teams filled with Harbaugh's recruits, went 23-5. And from what I understand David Shaw pretty much runs the same system Harbaugh ran. If Harbaugh had stayed at Stanford, after Luck left, I don't see anything that indicates that they still would not have had top 10 teams.

As much as I hate the "god like" admiration that some fans give Harbaugh, all he's done is win, win, win, no matter what, at whatever level he has coached at. He legitimately has left the teams he has coached, in much better shape than he acquired them. Hopefully he does the same thing at Michigan (not the leaving part ).

To some extent, there's only so much you can do for NFL players. Harbaugh got the team to the Superbowl in a very short amount of time, and that's what should count more than the rise and fall of 1 individual player.

When that player is the QB there is not much more important. Especially when you are supposed to be a QB coach.

By the way Whittingham did turn down a job at TN. So a major school did seriously try to lure him.

At the time, Hamilton was UTK's AD, and Kyle was wise to demure. Tennessee is still paying for what Hamilton wrought during his tenure as AD. It is a classic case of promoting a good fund raiser for the university to a position for which he had no competency.

Can someone remind me where meeeechegan finished nationally & in conference recruiting wise for '15? I think Harbaugh will turn that program around but it will not happen overnight. So meeeechegan fans really shouldn't get over excited for the 2015 season.

Again, that ranking had to do with the small class, not necessarily the talent within. We had a small class because, unlike some schools, we actually stick to the number of scholarships we actually have.

If he would have been told after signing day when Meyer needed a slot you might have a case but he was told in January well before any numbers issue occurred.

But you take the win in your head, Michigan fans need a W anywhere they can get one.
