Harbaugh won at Stanford because he had Luck. Without that level of QB then his record there is not near as good.
That's not exactly true. The 2 years after Luck, Stanford teams filled with Harbaugh's recruits, went 23-5. And from what I understand David Shaw pretty much runs the same system Harbaugh ran. If Harbaugh had stayed at Stanford, after Luck left, I don't see anything that indicates that they still would not have had top 10 teams.
As much as I hate the "god like" admiration that some fans give Harbaugh, all he's done is win, win, win, no matter what, at whatever level he has coached at. He legitimately has left the teams he has coached, in much better shape than he acquired them. Hopefully he does the same thing at Michigan (not the leaving part
