Thanks to all that participate in these threads. Today, we'll focus on Matthew Stafford with some good, honest rankings. After him, I'll go right into individual defensive players

Use the grading scale I've provided below and from there, I will get the average score for each player after a day or two.

Rank 1-10 with 10 being the highest. Include percentages (.1.2.3.4.5) if you believe player is between certain levels.

1- Bad player. Should not be on a NFL roster.
2- Tackling dummy or jock carrier.
3- Nothing more than a practice squad player.
4- Low level backup player.
5- Quality backup or role player with no starting potential.*
6- Starter but easily upgradeable.
7- Mid level starter, with potential as a high level starter.
8- High level starter, with All-Pro potential.
9- Consistent All-Pro player.
10- Potential Hall of Fame player.

8. He got better at doing the little things so that is a plus. Needs to be more consistent / accurate. His decisions have been better, along with footwork. Hopefully a revamped O-line will get the offense back on track.

I think the potential is there to be elite, but he's not nearly consistant enough yet. He is only 26, though, and has put up some pretty prolific passing stats already in his career, so his ceiling is pretty much unlimited, imo.

He took a big stride forward this year by cutting way down on the turnovers (waaay down), but with that came less big plays, less yards, and way less scoring. He was also learning a new offense and new offensive coordinator for the first time in his career, and said coordinator was also new at his job, so that likely had a lot to do with the drop in statistical output. Drew Brees is quoted as saying he recognized 90% (or 99%, or some such shit) of our offense this year; the New Orleans offense is prolific, so, if that's what we're running then it just comes down to talent and execution once everyone has learned the scheme. The potential is there for the yardage and scoring.

What we need is a combination of the less-turnover-more-mechanically-sound Stafford of this year and the 5,000 yard, 42 TD Stafford from yesteryear.

Overall though I think he's just between a mid-level starter and high-level starter with tons of potential.

I want to say 8.5 but I'll say 8. I think he's got all the tools to win a SB, glad he's our QB.

Imo, a closer look at his career numbers indicate a QB who probably has more, for lack of a better term, "haters" than he should. For all the hub-bub on the INTs, he's thrown nearly 50 more TDs than interceptions over the course of his career. He's also got over 21,000 yards and a surprising 11 career rushing TDs. He's no scrambler, but he's got a nose for the goal line if the defense gives him an opening.

Not too shabby for a kid who just turned 27 over the weekend. Stafford certainly hasn't "arrived" or anything like that, but I think a lot of people don't appreciate how talented he is, and I think their opinion of him skews their perception of his play.

You don't give up on a QB that young who has that sort of production already in his career...

8 to 8.5. Not many QBs have 5000 yard seasons on their resumes - what do we want?

While he is no Mark Sanchez you need only recall that throw in the Atlanta game to see just how special he could be.

6.8- Top 3 arm in the NFL. However, accuracy will always keep him out of the upper echelon.

Mid-level starters dont accomplish what he has. He needs more consistency and wins that mean something but he's a talented kid.

He represents the "potential" needed to score an 8 and if he recognizes that he would be a 9. Thus 8.5.

I think he's the definition of an 8. He has performed at a fairly high level and there would be a bidding war if he were to hit free agency. He had one all pro level year, but has the potential for more.

I agree. If Stafford was a FA, him and Suh would be the big targets on the market. That has to say something about him.
