So let me get this right... Seattle goes on the road for the opener, with significant injuries on the defense, a 10AM start, across the country, it humid/hot weather they are not used to, win by 5 points... but it's shaky.

But, San Fran stays at home for the opener, basically at full strength (no Crabs, but like Harvin that was so long ago), 1PM start in their conditions, win by 6 points requiring an extra 3rd down (heard this might not be true so jump in) and a push off by Boldin to extend a 4th down winning drive...

And San Fran moves ahead of Seattle. Not that I care about power rankings, but I found it pretty amusing to say the least

Everyone knows the rankings are a joke, basically it's just some thing that for fans of teams ranked highly to say gee that's nice.

It was not the Hawks showing that moved them down. It was the Falcons performance that allowed the 49ers to leapfrog. Many of the voters had Atlanta as the #2. Removing those #2 votes and giving them to 49ers allowed them to jump over Seattle who only had 2 #1 votes to begin with.

As far as the power rankings go its only fuel for trolls and people that have no clue how the NFL works. When was the last time a #1 ranked team after week 1 won the superbowl? tell me that. Was it the Pats? was so long ago it really doesn't matter. I look forward to this coming Sunday when we see something that "DOES" matter and that's the games.

The Denver game is hard for me to judge without really knowing how much of it was Denver being good or the ravens being bad and out of their element. The ravens seemed in control until a couple key injuries, the heat, and the altitude seemed to tip the game in the broncos favor. Not that I'm trying to discount their win, but once the defense was out of gas simple plays were gashing them.

A lot of people (non-Seahawks fans of course) would suggest that they didn't belong at #1 in the first place. I personally don't care about the power rankings that much. They're fun to read and the reactions to it in the comments section are often hilarious, but that's about as far as it goes. It's entertainment and something that is meant to get web hits and cause "debate".

It's nice to see your team at #1 but these rankings don't mean anything. Especially after one week. I didn't agree with the order of most teams.

It's just for fans to have something to argue about.

There more rules, but these are the ones most posters care about. Although it's not stated as a rule , trolling teams boards is frowned upon and SportsHoopla does a great job of keeping team boards free from hard headed trolls. I'm good with that.

Don't try to lure anyone here who's a troll. Be happy they are not here. Plenty of NFL sports fans that can give us a good debate without being trolls.

Thanks Harold, it appears that he is violating rule #2, the posts are not clever enough to entertain and he should be sent back to the minor leagues. Just my 2 cents.
