As far as Dancehall goes....imho

Sugar Minot, Capleton and Barrington Levy >>>>>>>> Buju Banton

and I repeat...Pato is not related to Buju

we got you the first time chief.

Now that I acknowledged you, will you get over yourself?

I couldn't give a squirt of piss about dancehall but I saw the other Banton and a name I hadn't thought of in years Buju popped into my head.

Now, go ahead and carry on with your worldly knowledge of all things dance hall reggae.

I will be movin along.

:heh:

Check out Damian Marley. I really like all his stuff. He sounds a lot like his Dad. Which is awesome. He even does a couple covers of his Dad's stuff and they are really good.

:behindsofa: Gotta be careful, Yoga may come along and tell me Damian sucks and isnt really Bob's son

I don't listen to much reggae, but I do like the Charlie Hunter Quartet cover of Marley's Natty Dread, they did the whole album in jazz......some of it is really amazing:

If you like guitar, check out the live performance on the same page as that Youtube......he plays a custom 8-string with bass strings on it, plays both parts simultaneously. Some of his stuff is nuts.

I've known Charlie for years, good dude and a damn good musician. He used to play here all the time.
If you dig jazz, check out The CH Trio, and his side project from back then, TJ Kirk

You know Charlie? Damn....he's a legend. I've been listening to him since the first album.....I was too young to go to the shows back then. One of the greatest guitarists ever.

Yep...I remember him busking on the street corners of the Haight in SF..and Telegraph Ave in Berkeley...and doing the open mic circuit...
All the time he was refining and toning his skill. He finally met the right people and launched a nice career.
Dude is phenomenal.

Pato Banton .... SWEET. I forgot about that one. I used to have a song by him that I recorded off of WUSC (SC's university radio) back in high school along with another 85 minutes of reggae music on that cassette. Thursday nights 8-10 was reggae night. The cassette deck finally ate it one day. It was a sad day.

Thanks for the suggestions bro.

found it.
