Agree or disagree with the move, I think Gosselin makes a good point: Jerry finally learned to say goodbye. I'll add that he also seems to have finally learned that building a team shouldn't be done one year at a time.

"That’s what the successful franchises do — make the hard decisions and move on. Logic must prevail over emotion and sentimentality in today’s NFL. And logic prevailed at Valley Ranch Tuesday with the release of DeMarcus Ware."

I think the move makes sense, but I'm very apprehensive to proclaim Jerry has learned anything. He seems to have a habit of forgetting his lessons.

Your point is tough to dispute.

He "learned" to say goodbye....at the worst time possible. There were lesser players than Ware that he kept around that should have been jettisoned. He kicks arguably (probably really isn't arguable) the best pass rusher in Cowboys history to the curb after just two mildly productive seasons before that said player was 32 years-old (meaning he still had productive --possibly even elite-- years left). Yet he gives Spencer the franchise tag and he eventually gets hurt for the entire season. Do I need to mention all the other garbage he's kept around long passed their welcome? Good thing for us the only thing that we have worth a shit on the defensive line is the Defensive Coordinator. Till death do us part.

I think Ware being released was more about the 17M rather than his subpar season.

Understandable, but Jerry should have "learned" his lesson on lesser players not players like Ware.

I can agree with thus. He should have learned years ago. But with Wares contract staring Jerry in the face he very little options

I'm going to be happy for Ware when he's lighting it up in N.O., G.B., or SF, but as a Cowboys fan, it's going to suck

Jerry did learn his lesson but he backed himself into an awful corner based on the dumb contracts he gave including Carr, Jay Ratt, Austin, etc. Ware is now better used as a situational pass rusher so no way he could count 16 million against the cap especially if not willing to take a significant pay cut.....

Jared Allen Probably

There's a rumor the Broncos are going after Ware. I'm sure their bottom-line is to acquire a pass rusher. Should be an interesting day.

Thats probably to get Allen's asking price down

But I hope the rumor is correct. If we have to replace Ware.... Allen is the best choice to do it with

Hate to say it but this is the right move. Can't wait until Austin gone. If Carr continues to suck he can be next. If Carr is unable to play well in this scheme then we are wasting valuable cap space. We also need to find a replacement for Heath. He is garbage.

I agee that Allen would be a good move if the contract is not high

Another thing to remember about Ware. If we kept him he would have had another $17M cap hit next year...
