Still amazes me that people can't tell the difference between good defenses doing their thing and a bad to average defense just looking good due to bad offenses.

Last night we saw what many are calling a boring game. WTF? That was a GREAT game. You saw two very talented defenses at work. LSU and Bama aren't the greatest offenses in the world but they're capable. They just happened to face two really good defenses.

There have been times when games were ugly and we got the whole "We in the SEC just play good defense.... blah blah blah" but last night it was true.

Props to both teams last night on a great game.

Yeah, while I agree that neither offense is that great... both defenses are obviously amongst the best in the Nation, if not the best.

Good, classic SEC defensive game.

Neither offense is great, but they are both pretty good! Look at their stats, aside from this gone, both were averaging over 39 points per game leading into this game... The fact is that they both have excellent sit down defenses!

exactly. These are pretty special defenses. I am just awed at the "experts" who are calling it boring and how the offenses played so bad. How do these guys get these jobs!?

Not being a homer, but BAMA has made everyones offenses they played look awful, LSU has also, for the most part. With defenses like that, you don't have many opportunities to score, for the outsider looking in, I can imagine its pretty boring, but I loved it!

I loved it too. I am a defensive first guy which makes being an Oregon fan REALLY hard at times. I would do almost anything to have a great defense that isn't this "bend but don't break" BS that we have.

If only there was a way to get Bama's or LSU's defense with our Offense!

When I hear people crying over the lack of offense it's just jealously and they wish that their favorite team could play defense like that. They probably know that if LSU or Bama played their team the Bama and LSU offenses would clown stomp them while probably holding their team to a shut out.

That wouldn't be fair for anyone else... Lol

I like good ole smash mouth, run up the middle and break some tackles football... Tends to punish teams more instead or just running them to death

Lastnight I saw two good but not great offenses going against better defenses.

A&M threw 63 passes against OU yesterday.

When was the last time a team attempted even 50 against Bama?

Sure.

It's pretty easy to scheme against a offense that is going to take maybe 3 shots downfield on you the entire game. LSU threw 17 passes. :L

It's pretty easy to throw all over the place against teams without defenses.

Oregon 54 pass attempts 240 yards 27 points

WVU 65 pass attempts 463 yards 21 points

All I'm saying is Bama had a vanilla offense that didn't take any shots. Why?

I think the QB limits them, also they don't have a big receiver like Jones anymore, but Richardson & Maze are as talented as it gets.

Yes. LSU schemed to stop these two running backs and new Bama couldn't beat them with the pass. I bet Saban is kicking himself in the ass. He must have skipped over the WVU and Oregon game tapes. LSU is suspect to the pass.

If you throw the ball a lot against Bama they will shut you down. You have to make them respect your run game in order to be consistently effective in the air. It is supposed to be well known that teams that don't throw the ball a lot against Bama have the best chance to beat them. One dimensional offenses are not effective. Their last five losses have come against teams that threw the ball 20 times or less. Even with as sorry as the media is at breaking down games, they even see the obvious. You make them play the run and then hurt them in the air at the right times. That is the only effective way to approach Saban's defense. Simply watching high octane, pass happy teams throw it up and down the field against unrelated opposition is a poor way to make a point. To many college football fans are distracted by shiny objects on the ground.

I agree with the OP. Two pretty darn good teams played last night. But really? Where was the O?
