The DenverPost recently wrote an article on Sylvester Williams and what he is doing this off season...

Sylvester Williams knows "pressure is on" to reward Broncos' confidence - The Denver Post

Essentially I know many of us have talked about the huge hole of Terrance Knighton (literally and figuratively). The Broncos instead of looking to FA or maybe even the draft are looking inward and thinking that Sly Williams will become the guy that steps in and performs at a high level. The team has challenged him to step up and from the sound of it he is taking the challenge seriously. He has devoted his off season to staying in Denver and doing his training right at the facility. This means he can actually train with the team trainers who my guess is report back to the coaching staff what he is doing. This also means then our new DL coach can give tips of what he wants for Sly Williams this off season to be able to maximize his ability. I for one am excited to see what this kid can do. Have to remember he actually has very few years of actual football experience under his belt because he waited till college to start playing.

Have to figure that how well Williams and some of our other young players (e.g., Austin, Schoefield, Paradis, Garland, and Latimer) play this year could be important keys to the season. I do find it encouraging that Williams stayed in Denver to train and also that we seem to have a top notch DL coach. Also like how Elway seems to have leaned on Sly to step it up. Hopefully he is up to the task.

Since NT is such an important position, I was hoping we'd sign Ngata or Wilfork. They both ended up getting big contracts, however, that were probably beyond what we could (and perhaps should) offer.

Yeah I wouldn't have minded us bringing in one of those guys but then again at that price our Cap Space is completely gone. The draft is loaded with NT talent so I could see us using a pick as you usually want 2 good bodies to fill the spot as they usually only play about 50% of the snaps.

I like what Elway has been saying about the guys he has that just didn`t get the expierience /playing time/coaching under Fox and company and that he feels confident that these players can step up and fill spots and roles when given the opportunity and the right coaching and dedication of the player to make that leap as a starter or solid role player. I think this new coaching staff can achieve that if the talent is there. I have faith in Elway, Kubiak and Phillips to assemble the best talent possible come kick off this yr. Happy St. Pattys Day too Gents. Can`t wait to start digging into that Corn Beef and Cabbage in the crock pot soon:)
