Cecil Lammey just wrote an article for the bleacher report (they finally got a quality writer on the Broncos). Pretty much if you don't want to read the article it talks about how Von Miller coming back has impacted the defense and how it is quickly improving to one of the better in the league. Now I know we all saw the defense struggle in the 2nd half of Sunday's game but I think most of us (Malibu sorry buddy you might be the lone one that thinks even before injuries this defense sucked) know injuries played a big part in the 2nd half collapse along with turnovers.

Pretty good read. Thanks for posting that. Definitely shows how much Miller has meant to the defense since returning from suspension. Hopefully that unit continues to improve.

I have wondered if this defense was going to peak at the right time. It would be somewhat amusing if it did. The Colts defense in 2006 was not very good when one looked at the stats sheet, but when the playoffs started the defense carried them in a couple games. I can see this unit doing the same.

This is somewhat of a paradox for me. As good as the offense appears, I am always a little nervous when they are on the field because they have been so turnover prone. And as bad as the defense appears when one just looks at the box scores, I feel confident when our defense is on the field. And even before Miller returned, it was the defense that often made the difference in games.

Against the Ravens and Giants they shut down the opponents for long stretches in the 2nd half which allowed the offense to pull away. It was a defensive play that delivered the win against the Cowboys. So they have not been as bad a unit as many have alleged them to be. Most of the opponents have scored in the 20s, which is going to happen in today's NFL. Then you consider the number of points scored off of turnovers (a number I've lost count of, but is probably in the triple digits by now) and you really get a better appreciation for the defense.

Five games remain. Of the remaining opponents, only the Chargers have an offense that has been explosive at times. That same offense has been inept as well. The Chiefs will not be an easy win, with or without their injuries. They are always a challenge in KC and in my opinion by far the greatest hurdle to clear on the schedule. If they get past the Chiefs I see them reaching 14-2 with the defense peaking at just the right time as the team reaches the playoffs.

If I got to pick, I'd like to see the Colts and Patriots have the misfortune of coming to Denver in the playoffs. I have no doubt in my mind the Broncos would smoke either of them in a rematch in Denver. And the defense would be a big part of that.
