what what what what??? actually i had heard rumor of this (his rights being moved, not necessarily to SJ). personally i'm okay with it because it's west coast at least. but, i take it as a grain of salt because of the source.

okay, all the pens insiders call foul on this one. gonch has a NTC and if he were to break off negotiations with the pens it would be to see what he'd get on the open market, not go into the same issues with the sharks.

well the spezza thing seemed so premature. they kinda gave everyone the impression that it was complete, when obviously it hadn't even begun. this one doesn't seem logical though.

Depends on what goes the other way and how much we can sign him for. He's got talent and San Jose needs guys that can move the puck but it would really depend on what we gave up for him.

Most of the surprise is because he wasn't even on my radar.

It would have been fun to watch the Sharks offense next year for sure if this was the case, but I'm glad they didn't get Gonchar. The Sharks desperately need another defenseman who can make a good first pass, but they also need defensemen who can play some D. Gonchar fits the bill on the first, not so much on the second.

I would go as far to say that neither of these are Gonchar's strengths....it's QB'ing the PP and his shot from the point...
