The Bad Guy
Ok, we all had our opinions before the season. Has anything changed? Expectations up? Expectations down?
Everyone knows I predicted 8-4 for Nebraska (which included a loss to UCLA), which means I didn't have them in the Big 10 title game. I had Nebraska losing their 1st 2 conference games. After seeing what the Big 10 has done through 4 weeks into the season I can honestly say that my opinion has changed.
I still believe that Ohio St is the best team in the conference but since they are not eligible to win the conference they are eliminated from the discussion. Nebraska is the favorite to win the Big 10 in my opinion. Although that may be like being favored to win the gold medal at the special olympics, we will take it!!!! That also doesn't mean I think it will be easy for Nebraska.
Michigan St: GREAT defense, and they are proving to still be very tough. Big questions on offense. Thought it would be shaky but not as bad as it is. Can our OL contain that MSU DL enough to win in East Lansing? Can our DL and LBs contain Bell enough to not keep our offense on the field?
Wisconsin: Defense is the overwhelming strength of this team as well. Ball will probably not play. Freshman QB in his second start and first start on the road. Again, can our OL contain Wisconsin's D? Nebraska is 6-4 straight up at home in conference play when favored by double digits under Bo. This game will be close in my opinion. For the gamblers, Nebraska is 1-9 against the spread in those conference home games when favored by double digits under Bo.
Michigan: Considering how good our secondary is playing under Joseph I like our chances if Denard keeps throwing the ball but going against a mobile QB is still very scary!!!
Northwestern: They are 4-0 against some quality opponents for Northwestern. That is going to build some huge confidence but I can not logically say that Nebraska would or should ever lose to Nebraska. I realize it happened last year but my god it sounds so weird to say that NORTHWESTERN actually beat Nebraska.
Iowa: HAHAHAHA, they fucking suck, dont care.
Minnesota: Jerry Kill is such a good coach and I absolutely LOVE Gray!!!!! Again, a mobile QB against Bo is not a great mix for us.
Penn St: Seriously? NO!!!
Ohio St: Like I said, I believe them to be the best team and playing in Columbus will be tough.
I am not trying to say that we will sweep the Big 10 or even just 1 loss because anything can and will happen. All I am saying is that the door to win more than 8 games is opened much wider in my mind than it was at the beginning of the season. We still have a lot of question marks that need to be answered because it isn't like we have really been tested outside of the UCLA game and that UCLA team is a team that 99% of the people here said was terrible going into the season. We will see what happens when we finally are tested week in and week out against like competition.
