OK OK, get your minds out of the gutter!!!...It is a catchy title though, huh?

What are your favorite foods to eat raw? I don't mean fruits and vegetables, I'm talking Meat, Seafood, Organ meats, etc ...

My favorite would be Oysters, Clams and Beef tartare. I've had Lamb tartare, but it was WAY underseasoned so not too enjoyable. As I mentioned in another thread, I've have had Kobe beef liver sashimi which was VERY good, I would definitely order it again.

Oysters. I had some tuna tartare last weekend that was awesome. I'd do it again.

I LOVE sushi, so I'm with definitely you on the tartare...Oysters I've already mentioned, but what I enjoy/find so interesting about them is how every type tastes SO different.

When it comes to sushi I definitely prefer sashimi to negri or rolls. Absolutely love tuna. Oysters as well. Not as big a fan of raw salmon. Had some raw yellowtail which I liked quite a bit.

I agree with you, except for the salmon part. Since I started eating raw salmon 20 plus years ago, not sure why, but I just can't enjoy cooked salmon anymore. However, I still love cooked tuna and other fish.

Oh yea. I am definitely a local oyster lover. And I think the clusters are superior to singles or selects. The local ones are big, juicy, and most importantly ..... salty.

I've tried "gulf coast" oysters and they have great size, but NO salt.

Forgot to mention in the first part of this thread that I also LOVE sushi and sashimi, which certainly qualifies as raw, depending on the type of course lol)

Honestly, raw fish (especially sushi) kind of scares me. I'm not that big of a seafood person to begin with too.

Shouldn't scare you...As long as you are getting it from a good/reputable place you shouldn't have a problem. Of course, there always is a chance, but you have a similar chance with quite a few foods that could be "contaminatated" cooked or not...

I had a beautiful piece of rare tuna Saturday night at a chophouse up on Lake Chatuge. It was seared with some amazing seasonings and served rare with the usuals: pickled ginger, wasabi, soy, and some funky ass seaweed. I left the weed. It tasted like ass.

Tried another piece of rare tuna today at a local restaurant called Red's Icehouse. It was served on a "cucumber salad" with a house dressing. The tuna was good, but not near as tasty as what I had on Saturday. This didn't have that crispy searing that the other piece had. I did like the cucumber salad better than the sushi sides that the other piece had though.

Just a local place where we like to eat and drink during the "off season." We probably made our last stop there until after labor day. Once the tourist season starts, the place stays packed.

It is awesome though. They have two stores, one on Shem creek and one on Bohicket creek. They have the same menu's and both have nice views with some outstanding scenery inside and out.

I agree with you about it being packed through labor day, I used to go to Reds on Sunday's to watch NFL and I had a buddy who would pick me up in shem creek and we'd usually finish the day at Reds.
