Former Wing Tomas Kopecky makes it 3-1 Hawks on a delayed penalty (He parted the Wings defence like Moses Kopecky)

Something must be wrong with me...for some reason, even though I used to always like the Hawks, I find myself cheering for the Wings. I think it's a respect thing...I dunno. I feel funny!

Good game Hawks, what can I say? Howard has looked shaky lately, not Michael J. Fox shaky but still pretty shakey. Sharp and Bickell both had rockets, but Kopecky? The guy with hands of stone and a head of bricks? Come on man... when he was a Wing all he was good for was being Francois Beauchimen's punching bag.

I don't know if I was as mad about it as Mickey Redmond was, but it was pretty pathetic to boo Chris Chelios on Chris Chelios Heritage Night. I know, I know, he was the face of your franchise and then he played for "Detroit Sucks".

First of all: He was traded. He didn't want to go, we didn't want him here, it was all wrong and fucked up to begin with and you certainly can't blame him for the trade. It's not like he asked for a trade, or even worse was traded to you at the deadline, gave you three good months, and then left via free agency that summer. THAT I can understand booing.

Second: What did you do for you while he was here? Oh yeah, I almost forgot. He kept your entire franchise afloat. He bled almost every night for the Indian Head, he blocked shots, he got into it with the refs, he used every dirty trick in the book he knew to win, and he worked harder than maybe anyone in the history of the game. Chris Chelios is a filthy puke, but he's one of the most underrated defensemen of all time, and he sacrificed everything he could on the ice for your team. So don't fucking boo that you Cubs fans in disguise. I didn't hear you booing him when I sat in your half empty arena during the 90s, full of confused mustachioed sausage eating fatties thinking they were going to a Bulls game.

I think Howard needs a rest. I think he's getting a little too worked up, about what I don't know, but he's going through some sophomore growing pains and needs to watch a few games from the bench.

I like that they are actually limiting Lidstrom's ice time. I don't care how good the man is, you can't grind down your 40 year old stud defenseman with 25-27 minutes a night and expect him to be fresh for the playoffs. They have given Nick less ice time, and the other Nick more, and it's paid off. Both players seem to be having bounce-back years. Rafalski on the other hand, I'm worried is showing his age. I wasn't real thrilled about a six year deal to begin with, and I get the feeling once Lidstrom retires Rafalski's contract is going to look a little ugly. He's only got one more year on the deal after this one, so we might not ever get to that point.

Seabrook and Keith have really lost some mojo from last year. I'm not sure if it's just a massive Stanley Cup hangover or what, but that pairing just isn't getting it done out there. SNES made several bad plays last night as well. More than likely they are going to have a rough go of it this year, and come back strong in 2011/12. Who knows, with the top end talent on this team and some trade deadline tweaking, they might make another deep run.

I will say the Hawks played a very disciplined game of hockey last night. So disciplined in fact, that they were high sticking each other in the face rather than take a penalty by hitting a Detroit player. Very impressive.

Also did anyone else see that run Anklebiter took? They didn't show the replay, but he missed and almost went knee to knee with a guy. Very dangerous... not impressed with that at all. If you didn't have such a cool name, I would be mad at you Justin.

I thought this was was a little offsides, until I saw the following...

If you're going to pick on Alex Keaton, at least you balanced it out by picking on his little sister Tina Yothers...

I'll just stash this in here.. I went to the Griffins/Rivermen game last night.

McCollum: Looked like shit. I'm not bothered by this one bit, as I have all the patience in the world for young goalies. It was one game, and I'm sure in 10 years when Holland gives him his first NHL call up, he'll look fine. But last night he looked like shit.

Kindl: Looked talented, tough, strong, and smart. He had a bad shift towards the end when the Griffins (well, McCollum) were starting to get beat a lot, and took a hard slapshot using a broken stick as a puck. He looked frustrated, as everyone in the building without a vested interested in Peoria did.

Jamie Johnson: Awesome. Hit everything that moved, and some things that weren't moving. Love his game. He'll never be an NHL player, but I look forward to watch him rocket around the Van Andel in the future.

Andersson: Nice skills, had a quiet night, but shows promise. I'd like to see more of him.

Tatar: Loads of talent, needs to bulk up. At this moment in time he's easy to knock off the puck and gets muscled around a lot. Very good puck skills and very good vision.

Smith: Moving from college to AHL was the right move, but his game is still rough around the edges. He looked good running the power play, but had some ugly giveaways. Another guy who is a project with loads of potetial.

For the Rivermen (too bad we don't have any Blues fans here, they might actually appreciate this)

Jake Allen: Stud. Just flat out looked good. Looks big, plays the positions well, nice lateral movement, quick glove hand, he just looked good last night.

McRae: Very noticeable out there. Has the ability to bring you out of your seat, it seems when he gets the puck stuff just happens.

Della Rovere: No surprises here, the guy is a nut job. I'm not sure what hand gesture he was making towards Logan Pyett, I think it was "You are a moose with one antler who likes cock in the ear". It was James Wisniewski without the XXX rating.

Shattock looks fast, strong, and smart. Fun player to watch.

Anthony Peluso: Looks to follow in the tradition of Big Dumb Pelusos.

TJ Hensick: what's he doing down here? JD just think he needs some time in the A to get his game back. I think he looked great, get his ass back up to the big show.
