Great start to his career, dont know what we are gonna do with Morton and McDonald once Wandy is healthy.

I guess they can both go to pen.

The Padres will take them both.

get rid of watson.
he is terrible anytime there is a little pressure in the situation.
i would keep reid over him at this point.
morton for watson,
then gomez for zagurski,
then wandy for reid.
burnett, liriano, locke, wandy, cole
grilli, melancon, wilson, mazzaro, morris, gomez, and morton.
we then have to hope everybody including mcdonald pitches great so we have bargaining ships to get a stud SS or C prospect ready to play on the bench this year and start next year.

Well if he stays and keeps pitching like this the Pirates are in a good position right now.

Hopefully Karstens will be back at some point to help out of the bullpen.

This was a pretty tremendous game.

Got a win without using our set up man or closer!
Nice start for the Rookie starting pitcher!
Pedro was amazing! He has shown signs of putting together a nice run with his bat!
Marte hit a homerun

A lot of good things happened here..

We're hitting Zito pretty well tonight. That's good, he sometimes lets things snowball on him.

But the Giants' bats came to play today, so Liriano will have to stay sharp, or in fact, be sharper.

Well a four-spot helps. Those were some well-hit balls, too.

Gaby Sanchez brings Marte home (who stole his 20th base of the season already, wow) with his 100th career double. :clap2:

You guys got any pitchers who are inning-eaters in long relief? If so, use him tonight.

Love the fact that the offense bailed out a poor start for Liriano.

I love that maybe, just maybe the offense is starting to wake up..

Marte, McCutchen, Pedro, and Gabby all hitting at the same time equals a legit offense... Throw in the fact that Walker has been hitting better of late and that Mercer keeps getting better... and this really could be a worthwhile offense to go along with the great rotation, solid defense and lights out rotation.

Morton didn't look that bad in his 1st start since Tommy John.

Now how much longer will Zagurski be around after that performance?

I was at the game, and Morton looked a lot better than the numbers. His stuff was good, and for the most part, so was his command, at least from where I was sitting. Only the Posey double was hit really hard, and he kept the ball on the ground most of the night. He just couldn't get them to go at defenders.

From what I saw, Morton was making bat miss also! 5 K's and 1 walk... only 2 earned runs allowed... I would call that a very successful start. Of course it stings not to win.. But just getting this guy back is a big boost..

Now where oh where is McDonald?

morton also hit 3 guys.
on the positive side, he was throwing 95 pretty consistently and i don't remember him doing that pre injury. He also seemed to throw with no pain. He did have 5 k's and was missing bats(better ratio than cain)
any idea how he did against lefties/righties as that was always a weakness of his.
