Nishioka can also play shortstop and the Giants have a need for more depth there with the expiring contracts of Juan Uribe and Edgar Renteria.

That snippet above was a clue that the article was not from 2011. Nishioka played terrible for the Twins last season, I'm not sure why - I never followed him.

Swisher broke his (Nishoka) leg sliding through and attempting to disrupt a DP. Dunno if that injury just threw him off, but no part of his game translated to the mlb last year.

He couldn't field, hit, or run to save his life.
