Here is the illustrious Cliff Lee in an interview espousing his desire to win a championship in Philadelphia and then passing gas to end an interview. What a load of shit this guy is.

The Phils have a slim lead 5-4 and it's hard to care. I've lost much enthusiasm for this .430 team. Still, I think they should expend all efforts and set a goal of at least taking third place in the East which is occupied by a team playing .469. This means doing one or two worthwhile trades/callups soon that will help to win in Aug and Sept.


However, knowing the dumb trades they are capable of (get Pence then trade Pence), and moves (let's get Freddy up here to help), it may be less than 50-50 that improvements will be made. If they can finish third it would provide momentum for 2015 and keep the fans in the park. Then they could build on that. If they get cemented in the basement, no good player will even think about spending time here.

What I mean by momentum is at least getting a start on fixing what needs to be fixed, and carrying those changes into next season. They can't just sit in the basement and wait till next year. Yes, third place is better than 5th place even though the diff may only be a few games, i.e., winning beats losing, always. You don't care and that's that.

Yea Jvett you have a point. I am sure the mangerial staff is trying to fix their weaknesses with what they have this year. Unfortunately there aren't many moves out there that are going to help much and of course there is that bigass tumor in the FO that doesn't help matters much either.
