Time to stop the sweep tomorrow.
Why is it the I's?
The Oakland Irrelevants.

Carl Steward subbing for Baggs...extra dose of harsh in his game write-up.
Harsh, but he is pretty much spot on. I'm sure Sabean is trying really hard, but a new catcher can't come soon enough. Whiteside/Stewart can't seem to throw anyone out and they are a hole in the batting order. A move-the-line offense like the Giants can't afford any holes.
As desultory as the weekend was, the most galling piece was Chez' meltdown. That one was a cockpunch. The rest of it (shitty hitting followed by even worse hitting with RISP) I'm used to. As aggravating as Chez can be (and usually is), he typically gives us a quality start.
I came back late from LALA last night (fuck you Delta, never again!) and the overnight ESPN dude said that his sources tell him that the Giants have the inside track on Reyes.
Do with that what you will....
That makes me nervous...
I would guess maybe Chez, Belt and Craw??? I am not familiar with the Mets' needs though, so that may be WAY off...
I would think, though, that either of the NY teams would be HORRIBLE for Durty. Can you imagine him under the NY media microscope??
Yikes...

Mets don't want anyone who's about to cost a lot (Chez) so more like Wheeler, Belt and Crawford
If that's just to rent Reyes for 3 months, fuck THAT.
Hasn't someone floated the idea of getting Beltran for basically nothing? All we gotta do is pick up his salary for 3 months. And if we don't lose a key young guy that might be interesting.
By the way, agreed re Chez in NY. Not even close to possible.

Put a gun to my head and tell me I have to choose between Durty/Belt/Craw and Wheeler/Belt/Craw to give up, I would rather give the Durty package.
If we were to give up Belt AND Wheeler, we had better be getting an affordable stud for 3 years or so. Not a 3-month rental with first dibs at giving him a horrible contract.
Although, like I said, I dont want to give Durty/Belt/Craw either. I just threw that package together real quick, expecting you guys to destroy it. I would be SHOCKED if it cost that much, but I have no idea what NY's asking price is. Maybe it will cost ONLY Belt, but they have Ike, so I am not sure if they even want Belt...
Oh, they want Belt. All of MLB wants Belt. He can play OF and 1b. The question and sticking point is: Wheeler.
I think it's a given that we won't be resigning Reyes if we get him. I also think he's a player that would be perfect for the 2011 Giants but would turn into an albatross/attitude problem soon thereafter. That is, I don't WANT him in 2012...let the Sox or Spankees overpay for his underachieving, semi-motivated, fragile ass.
So, the question is: what would you give for 3 months of Reyes? For me, Wheeler and Belt are off the table. Not sure the Mets want a package of Surkamp and Neal/Peguero.
As for Beltran, he should be pretty cheap, as he cannot be offered arb and therefore we do not get compensation picks when he walks. I'd seriously consider getting this guy for the rest of the year. You would think that Neal+ would get it done. Remember, Beltran has a NTC which limits the number of teams in play for him. I'd assume SF would be acceptable to him.
I have seen this mentioned a few times before. Please explain.
