Haven't found the starting lineups yet, but I'm guessing Rent will be in the lineup. Rent was activated along with Runz today, and Darren Ford was brought up.

My guess:

Andy Towers CF
Franchez 2B
Huff Daddy 1B
The Bat LF
Podiatrist RF
Ain't Havin' C
Panda 3B
Rent SS
Freak P

I was OH so close:

Torres CF
Sanchez 2B
Huff 1B
Burrell LF
Guillen RF
Posey C
Sandoval 3B
Fontenot SS
Lincecum P

I thought for sure Boch would start Rent....in any event it's good that UUU is getting a night off.

Interesting that Ford gets called up. I am actually thinking that may be the death-nell for him, though. I have not looked at the 40-man situation in depth for the coming off-season, but you have to figure a fair number of slots will need to be be opened up for guys like Neal who need to be protected. With the sudden depth we have in OF prospects in the system (and speedy prospects, at that -- Brown, Parker, Peguero as well as Perez, Belt, Neal and Kieschnick), you have to figure Ford will be cut loose after the season ends. They are probably just giving him a chance to showcase himself for next year (either for the Giants or for another club).

Pads/D-backs update: 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th and Latos looks especially effective today. His stuff never impressed me until recently. It's scary, but I think he is getting stronger with more innings. Fastball is topping out at 94 and the change-up is a crisp, well-placed 79. There is no difference in his motion or arm action with either. Frightening.

He has been pitching well. Definitely doesn't have the stuff that Latos has, but between this and his showing against the Giants, color me impressed. Runner on first and one out for the D-backs in the bottom of the 5th. Hopefully, they can get something going here.

Nevermind. Fly out and strike out. Top of the order next inning though. 1-0, Pads, top of the 6th.

Wonder what this means for Velez? He'll be called up, but they could have sent Ford to AAA and called up Velez, but did this instead.

Doing work, instead of watching the game seems to be good luck for the D-backs. My boss appreciates it, too... but now I'm sleepy.

Here's to the Giants gaining a game tonight! Enjoy it, boys. Maybe I'll check in on this thread after I finish making dinner for the lady. Kruk and Kuip better be bringing me good news while I'm seasoning.
