GP, how could you POSSIBLY say that with this bunch ready to jump all over it?
Not that there is anything wrong with that...

PitchFX not available in-game this year? That sucks
Here's that Belt K.
Not even close to a strike.
Obviously, it was a frustrating game last night. It was interesting to see both Halladay and Lincecum struggle with the strike zone a little bit. I thought a low zone would be beneficial to both of them. Certainly, the lack of communication in the outfield on Polanco's "out-double" changed the trajectory of the game. Still, that line-up has to score more than two runs, even against Doc. Belt, ManBur and (sigh) Nate need to recognize slider and lay off of it, if it's thigh-high and on the inside part of the plate (because that means [gasp] it will end up at their back feet). [snip]
Belt has seen 10 sliders - 2 BF sliders and he took both of those. But Maburr has swung at the only BF slider he's seen.
Including last night, Nate has seen 21 sliders.
Here are the ones he has taken:
And here are ones he has swung at:
It's early, but he has yet to swing at a back foot slider in 2012.
If Pitch F/X is correct, then Roy Halladay's sinker has some interesting sideways movement and Mike Krukow doesn't know what a slider looks like. Last night, in one at-bat, I watched Belt swing at two pitches that started thigh-level on the inside part of the plate and ended up almost hitting his shoe-top. He did it once more in a later AB. Since those pitches were in the mid-80s, I assumed that they were sliders. Then, Krukow commented that a veteran pitcher will continue to go to the back-foot slider until a young hitter proves he can hit it or lay off of it.
Shit dude, you should really quit your day job and do this for a living.
Excellent stuff. We all owe you rep.
Pitchfx classifies some pitches differently than I would based on my TV view. So there's that. I checked curve balls for Nate, and he has yet to swing and miss one of those - he's only had 8 all year though.
He definitely has gotten better. Last year, it looked like he had turned the corner, but last night, I recall him swinging through a low inside pitch in his pinch-hitting effort. At that point, I might have been projecting my frustrations. I understand how it can be a tempting pitch, and I certainly can't hit it or recognize and lay off of it, but I don't get paid for that. Either way, every pitcher in baseball knows exactly where to pitch Belt and ManBur, and they have a really good idea how to pitch to Nate. I hope they put in the work to change that.
