Burns is the only player in the top six who's moving his feet. Thornton, Havlat, and the entire 2nd line are just standing around watching in the defensive end.

I love Burns up front i hope Thornton doesnt suck the passion and life out of him with his laziness

He's the only one fighting along the boards and playing the body. Everybody else is just waving their sticks. It's been frustrating to watch.

Nap day for Marleau and Thornton :(

Least they scored 4gs with these 2 taking the day off... 2-3 weeks ago that wouldve been a garenteed shutout for the other team...

Said it before & ill keep saying it... I love me some forward Big Burns... Its amazing how moving him to forward has made me go from absolutely hating & bashing the guy to loving him... Then again I did the same thing with Big Buff... Hated him on D for chicago, loved him at forward... Just hope the Sharks dont get any crazy ideas of EVER putting him back on D...

That was ugly. Can't believe I wasted my time watching that off the DVR.

Basically, everyone not named Burns or on the Torres/Pavs/Galiardi line didn't bother showing up.

And the PP is still atrocious. I just FF right through every PP these days since it only pisses me off and makes me feel like breaking shit.

Also, I'm pretty sure Marleau and Couture will never score another 5-on-5 goal this season. That line still blows. And even worse now, Marleau has completely stopped giving a shit. He was just standing around (on offense AND defense) all day today.

In other words, he's already in P-O form. :gaah:

You have him confused with pavelski and Thornton

All 3 have their own track record of disappearing for entire series. Marleau just seems to get called out more often. Just ask JR. :suds:

Marleau has had 2 horrible playoff years. Thornton has had only 1 good one as has pavelski. Overall marleaus playoff performances is tops on the team by a long shot

Its true that all three have many many disappearing acts in their history. Jumbo seems to pass even more in the PO's than normal, and it usually crushes the PP as they can isolate him on his backhand. Pavs too is very bipolar, but the truth is that he lacks the skill or size of patty/jumbo, not to menton just over half the salary, so to expect a parallel performance from him is not realistic. That said, he sure does sway so it would be nice to see constant effort.

Patty is so amazingly hot/cold that it boggles the mind. Just look at his season and it's impossible to miss. Lights out the best player in the NHL in the first several weeks. 14 pts and +5 in the first 6 games is unreal. But since then, nothing short of awful. 32 games and just 12 points and a -12. This is the problem with patty. Hell go lights out for a series and then absent or worse right after. He's not alone in this regard of course, but its not true that he is some great PO performer. Has he ever put together 2 point-per-game series in a given PO year?

If I were Patty, I would have given up too if you had me play with Wingels every fucking night, against the opponent's top line, every shift... just so that you can give the easy matchups/minutes to Jimbo's line by sheltering them like babies.

It's pretty fail coaching, really. Yeah, they won a bunch of games, but it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to tell that Marleau and Couture are pretty frustrated about it.

I mean, sure it's nice to be trusted to always play against the top line but your 5-on-5 offense will go down to pretty much zero (like it has) since you have to worry so much about defending first, making perfect passes, etc.

Now with the team going on the road and Todd not being able to get the last personnel change off the bench, watch Marleau's line start scoring (since they won't play the opponent's top like 100% of the time anymore).

Like I said Doug Wilson needed to get a RW at the trade deadline. I hope someone from Worster gets hot and called up, I don't know if I can take anymore of Wingles on the 2nd line.

I don't typically agree with Rules ever when it comes to Marleau but this last game even though i didnt see the whole game, he was pretty bad. Thats when you know he is in a slump when he's terrible on both sides of the puck and isnt moving his feet to get to the open areas or playing the body at all.

You can only blame so much of that on baby sitting, and he really hasnt had to do that, that much on his current line. Coutrure is a beast on the back check and his own zone, wingels has been rough but Marleau is good enough to over come that and not be dragged down by it.

The other part about him being streaky, yes he is streaky but no worse then anyone else on the team. Theres no real set up man on his line right now like it was when he was playing with Thornton, Logan and Patty are more shoot first guys then set up men so its effecting both of their play i think.

Wingels if he would get better on the fore check and dig out pucks and get them to the front of the net to marleau or couture would help, but the lack of a set up man on that line is hurting them period

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong -- I thought Marleau was horrible vs. Dallas... I wasn't trying to defend him or say that he even tried to play hard, etc.

He's been pretty average for about 4-5 games now, I think. I don't remember exactly when's the last time I thought to myself "whoa, Marleau is flying out there!" but probably not during the homestand (the game @ Anaheim right before maybe? no idea).

Good thing the others picked up the slack a little because otherwise we'd have people with pitchforks here calling for his head! :p
